After looking at these beautiful handmade coasters from Alice I immediately wanted to try this course for myself. This was super easy to follow and I’m really pleased with the results. Really therapeutic and I can’t wait to do more, I highly recommend to anyone that is feeling creative!
A very enjoyable, well-structured hand weaving course. I learnt a lot, produced a mat I'm very pleased with and hope to return for more tuition in the future. The studio was very snug and warm despite the storm raging outside. Thank you, Alice.
My mum and I booked this course following my mums course on Macrame pot hangers which she thoroughly enjoyed. Alice is a very good teacher and her studio is enchanting as are the other studios around Hotwalls. Alice’s work is so beautiful I can only hope to achieve half of the skill she has .
Alice was a great teacher and incredibly patient with us all. It was a really fun way to spend an evening and I have even got the kids doing it now! I would highly recommend it...and can’t wait to come back and do more.
We got this course as a birthday present for my mum and we both had a wonderful and very relaxing time. Alice was very friendly and patient and I was so pleased to be able to produce a wall-hanging despite not having done anything like this before. Alice is a great teacher and built us up from first steps to learning how to make tassels.
The location is brilliant - Alice has a lovely, well-equipped studio by the seafront in Old Portsmouth and there are lots of other studios and creative shops nearby. It’s also easy to find and park right by the studio. I’m now looking forward to doing some more weaving on my own and would highly recommend this course, especially as a gift. Perfect!
A great workshop in a calm and beautiful space. It exceeded my expectations of what I could achieve in a day and was a really stimulating introduction to hand weaving. I look forward to doing more and developing what I learnt. Alice is a really interesting and patient teacher. Thanks for a wonderful day!.
This was my second weaving course with Alice and I'm really glad I chose to do the day again. I really enjoyed it first time round but doing it again allowed me to improve my technique significantly. This time I've bought a loom and the day after the session have started another weave of my own.
The course is a great introduction and Alice teaches you all of the basics so that you can continue if you want to. The setting is lovely as her studio is cosy and you're in a small group, so get as much help as you need. I will definitely be going back and doing another day with Alice, hopefully to learn some more advanced techniques.
Had a wonderful day with Alice who taught us all the basics but also showed us lots of techniques to stimulate creativity and style. I’ve come home with a lovely weave which I plan to make into a cushion cover. I would very much like to do the follow on workshop soon.
Had a lovely and relaxing day with Alice, learning how to weave.
It was very enjoyable and appreciated Alice's guidance and kind patience. I also really enjoyed learning about the weaving traditions in Japan, Korea and Europe - absolutely fascinating. Many thanks Alice.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this workshop. There were only 4 of us which meant good individual attention and no waiting around for assistance. Alice is a very patient teacher and I learnt plenty. The location is fab. An all round great experience.
I really enjoyed this workshop that I received as a birthday gift. The studio space is great and the numbers on the workshop worked well. Alice is lovely and very talented, good at passing on her skills and gave us all the time and support we needed. I was so pleased to be able to walk away with a weave that I'd made on the day, on my first attempt at weaving too. Really would recommend this workshop.
I had a great time on the introduction to loom weaving course. With Alice’s help I was able to pick up the basics quickly and managed to complete a wall hanging to take home with me at the end of the day. If you are interested in learning to loom weave I would highly recommend this course!
I had a great introduction to weaving last Saturday when I attended Alice's course - she explained everything very clearly and patiently - we were all complete beginners. It is a fantastic way to learn the basics and given me the confidence to have a go at home - which I am now doing. So thank you Alice for inspiring me and I look forward to future courses to learn more. Alice's studio is in the middle of Old Portsmouth which I had never visited before and I really enjoyed exploring as well.
In short, I couldn't recommend this course enough for anyone wanting to have an introduction to weaving.
Alice was lovely and explained everything in a way that was very easy to understand and follow. It was really nice having a whole day as it meant we could actually make a piece from start to finish, including learning how to set up the loom. And the venue was great; easy parking in Gunwharf Keys, a great working space and a lovely cafe nearby for lunch.
I'm not a naturally creative person but I really enjoyed how methodical the process was, and yet it almost brought out some creativity in me as I chose different colours and tried out the different weaving techniques. I can definitely see myself continuing with it, and unlike other courses actually feel like I learnt the craft well enough that I'll remember the basics for next time.
I would recommend Alice and the introduction to weaving for anyone interested in the craft or just wanting a relaxing day with friends where you try a new activity.
