My 12 year old daughter Grace has completed a 6 week art class with the lovely Sue. The final two sessions ended up as a one-to-one day due to Covid.
I’ve been amazed at the standard of work Grace has completed under Sue’s tutelage. Grace thoroughly enjoyed learning many different techniques and is justifiably proud of her finished paintings. Sue has a lovely studio, with a very relaxing and homely atmosphere.

I was lucky enough to be bought a one day, introduction to painting in oils with Sue. Firstly, directions were great and she was easy to find. A warm welcome was then followed by a wonderful day immersed in the application of oils, mixing colours, applying to canvas using the right brushes and all delivered in an easy going, encouraging manner. I learnt so much in just one day and came home with a completed painting, my first in oils. She is an excellent teacher, an inspiration to all new aspiring artists. Highly recommended, the perfect introduction and I shall be returning for more!

The bee keeping course was fantastic. Some really informative talks and so much information I feel slightly daunted but really understand what would be involved and how to get help when starting to keep bees.

The practical session all dressed up in our beesuits was particularly good. The weather was poor so the bees were very agitated when we went through some hives. We were still able to have a go at lifting out and examining the frames which was a great confidence boost when the bees were not in the best of moods.

Following lockdown Sue made the day of painting relaxed, fun and informative. Upon arrival Sue chatted about what we would be doing throughout the day and ensured maximum comfort at each stage of the painting experience. Encouragement and excellent tuition resulted in a great oil painting to take home. Sue is an extremely talented artist who is generous in sharing her wealth of knowledge and expert eye as she teaches each stage of your masterpiece. For anyone left handed that has experienced difficulties in technique, Sue was able to demonstrate brush position and tips that make sense.
I would absolutely recommend Sue to anyone considering a day of art whether you have painted before or have no previous painting experience. A definite 5* day and a huge thank you.

Having signed up for the six week beginners course over a year ago, have now finally completed it. What a brilliant course and Sue such a good teacher. Very patient, helpful and inspiring. I have learnt so much and become so inspired and now have taken up oil painting. I had never painted before and had often thought about it but never felt confident enough to do it. So glad to have completed the course and done several paintings that I feel very proud of.
Lovely surroundings to be painting in.

I'd definitely recommend this course as a great general introduction to Bee Keeping! The course was really informative, clear and hands on; with a chance to be with the bees towards the end of the day and having an opportunity to both see and practically have a go at what we'd learnt. John is a great teacher, very knowledgeable and both open and patient to having lots of questions thrown at him.
Sue and John were lovely hosts, offering a tasty lunch, lots of friendly chats and the course was set in a sweet spot in Sussex. It was great to meet other like minded people on the course and was definitely a confidence boost in taking the first step towards getting my own bees. A great added bonus was getting a gift of honey and pollen chart reader at the end of the day. Overall, it was a wonderful day and Id definitely join more courses again with John and Sue. Thank you! xx

I cannot praise Sue O’Mara’s Pet Portrait course highly enough. I had looked at various other artists’ web sites to commission a pet portrait, but after reading through the details of Sue’s course, felt that painting my pet would be more fulfilling, and it really was.
I am extremely grateful to Sue for nurturing my inner artist. Sue is lovely, and an excellent teacher. Her course is structured in such a way, that you see real progress during, and at the end of each day. Sue explains methods and painting techniques with each stage, and is extremely encouraging. I am an absolute beginner, and thrilled with the end result! The course is extremely enjoyable, and great value for money. The location of the studio is very peaceful, and the lunches provided by Sue an added bonus – they are delicious!

My girlfriends created a bucket list for me and one of the things to do was a life drawing class. Having never done any drawing before I signed up for a day session with sue. Well what can I say from the initial conversation and emails we exchanged sue put me at ease. The woodland studio is a tranquil and enhancing environment. Sue is so easy going and informative. Her life model, also sue was a very brave and inspirational lady also. Arrived without a clue, left feeling inspired to do more. Can't recommend more highly. Thanks sue xx
