The 'Learn to love your sewing machine' workshop is brilliant. Before the workshop I had a very basic knowledge of how to stitch a straight line, but no idea about any other functions. Jen's knowledge and patience knows no boundaries, and I learnt how to maintain the machine, how to fix the problems I was having with tension, as well as learning how (and why) you use all of my machines accessories. All of that and Jen showed us how to make a zip bag. I came away feeling inspired to use my machine, and with the confidence of knowing how to!! Jen is a brilliant teacher, and her workshop is a lovely place to learn. Oh, and there was homemade cake !!!! Fantastic value for money and fun too.
Response from Sew Forest of Dean:Thank you Nicki, that's really kind of you. I'm so glad you enjoyed the day and you went away inspired. That's my main aim in life, to inspire people to sew and show them all the tips and tricks to sew with pleasure and accuracy! You did a great job, I'm glad you enjoyed the cake 😊 Good luck with all your sewing projects.
Hadn't picked up my sewing machine for years and could barely remember how to thread it. Jennifer was really patient and so lovely. The day covered all you need to know to get back in the saddle and was thoroughly enjoyable. Couldn't recommend it enough. Lovely cake as well. 😁
Response from Sew Forest of Dean:Thank you Helen, you did a great job with your machine and I'm so glad you enjoyed the day and the cake. Good luck with all your sewing projects 😊
My trusty hand Singer sewing machine has died and I’d not used an electric machine since my school days (a long time ago!) so this course was perfect. It was a fun, friendly day and I left full of new found enthusiasm for sewing. Plus there was cake!
Response from Sew Forest of Dean:Thank you Alison, it was lovely to spend time with you in the studio. I look forward to seeing you again on the Redwork Workshop 😊 Happy sewing in the meantime.
I'm reasonably confident with my sewing machine thanks to the Sew Forest of Dean "Learn to Love Your Sewing Machine" course, but was worried I wasn't precise enough to do patchwork. She's helped me with my cutting and piecing skills, and I've now made cushions, and a baby quilt. Feel like I'm now ready to tackle my first grown up quilt, I've learned so much! Thank you Jen!
Response from Sew Forest of Dean:You have some great ideas for your projects Emily, I'm so glad I've been able to help you gain confidence and to get you started with them. Your bookcase quilt is going to be stunning, I can't wait to see it finished.
Jen is an excellent teacher, with a passion for needlework that's infectious. She explains things very clearly, has endless patience & creativity, and will get you excited to use your sewing machine! Love going to the studio for some sewcialising, and looking forward to my next course. Highly recommend this lovely lady.
Response from Sew Forest of Dean:Thank you so much Emily, it's always a pleasure to spend time with you in the studio x
Jen is an excellent teacher with an amazing amount of sewing knowledge. There is group and individual tuition throughout the day.
I learnt a lot about the knobs, dials and various sewing feet and feel confident enough to try them out at home.
The day was thoroughly enjoyable and went ‘sew’ quickly!
Response from Sew Forest of Dean:Thank you Maggie, it was a lovely day and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Happy Sewing :-) Jennifer

I learnt so much on this course. I had always wanted to make a quilt but didn't know where to start. Jen explains things in such an easy to understand manner. I really enjoyed the course and I am now making quilts for all of my grandchildren!
