"If you want to learn to throw on the potters wheel I fully recommend this class. Pat has so much knowledge and experience in ceramics and is a brilliant teacher. The two hour slot is perfect if you want a taste of throwing and the 1:1 tuition means you learn so much more than if you were in a class sharing with other people. Pats knowledge isn’t limited to throwing either. We got to talk about working with different clay bodies , glazing, exhibiting work and so much more. Such a good experience! "

"Pat was an amazing teacher. She knew just how much to assist and when to let you go at it alone. There was no pressure and if you messed up you just started again. The workshop is cosy and envelopes you in calm as soon as you enter. A thoroughly enjoyable morning and something I would repeat without hesitation. That you Pat!"

"We had a brilliant time throwing pots with Pat at her studio. Pat was so supportive, helpful and encouraging. We arrived total novices and left having made 6 pots each (some more successful then others). We would highly recommend this session and can’t wait to pick up our selected pots when they’ve been fired and glazed. "

"A birthday experience for my daughter as we have both always wanted to have a go at throwing. Pat was so welcoming and patient and her studio was so cosy with the log burner ablaze. We had a fabulous time with lots of laughs and expert tuition. Would definately recommend this experience and beautiful location. Now looking forward to seeing our masterpieces once Pat has worked her magic on them."

Pat was very informative, patient and helpful, and under her supervision we created pots that were so much better than I thought we'd be able to create! Very caring and patient and eager to teach us. Thoroughly enjoyed our few hours there and would do it all again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend this experience. "

"I throughly enjoyed this experience. The workshop was a lovely space to work in accompanied by a warm fire which really added to it! Pat is an amazing craftsman, very knowledgeable and helped me with my pottery when needed. Friendly approach and was very pleasant to be taught by her. The experience itself was so fun and therapeutic. Something I had never done before - well worth doing! I got to take home 2 pots I made with the option of paying just a small fee for any others I wanted....I bought the rest! Highly recommend this experience with Pat Southwood to anyone wanting to do pottery throwing, great for beginners too! "

"My cousin and I had the most fabulous time with Pat, she was very kind and friendly, and helped us understand about the clay and showed us how to throw and centre the clay, we threw about 6 pots all of which turned out really well. "I had never done any pottery before, not even at school, so I was a little apprehensive, but I was immediately put at ease by Pat who is extremely friendly and personable. After having a go at working the clay to get the air bubbles out and a demonstration by Pat the wheel was mine! With expert guidance and advice you get ‘hands on’ with the clay. I found Pat’s tuition to be really informative, straightforward and, most importantly, patient! I would thoroughly recommend this session to anyone who wants to throw a pot or two and learn plenty about this incredible process. The 2 hours just flew by and I had some lovely pots to collect once they had been fired!"
