Pat presented the day at a straightforward, let’s crack on pace. We weren’t overwhelmed with technical restrictions and were encouraged to decide what we wanted to make after looking at some inspirational books. The day was about making and making we did... in the morning we created a coil pot and in the afternoon threw various shapes on the wheel. We are two aspiring potters of different ability (one complete novice and one with a little experience) and we found the workshop perfectly pitched. We’ve already booked a second workshop! Excellent day.

Response from Pat Southwood:Thank you for your kind review, you both worked hard with patience and enthusiasm and produced some good pots; looking forward to seeing you both again in the Spring for another day of making.
A brilliant day learning new skills in good company. Thank you Pat!

Response from Pat Southwood:Thank you Lucy, so glad you both enjoyed your quiet and productive day !
I purchased a two hour taster session (for two people) for my daughters 16th birthday.
I wasn’t expecting my daughter to take me along with her but I’m so glad she did, we had a wonderful time.
Pat was so welcoming, knowledgable and clearly passionate about pottery.
She was a fantastic tutor, patient and tailored her assistance to our individual needs.
I thoroughly recommend this experience and expect we will look to do it again soon.
We are looking forward to collecting our fired and glazed pots to see how they came out.
Her studio is perfectly placed for a visit to Salhouse Broad too, so we did that afterwards and bought ice cream!

Being a complete novice, Pat took me through the processes involved and after 2 hours, I had a range of pots that were surprisingly good for a complete beginner! She stepped in when needed while still allowing you to make some mistakes and learn from them. A great teacher and an excellent 2 hours spent.

Response from Pat Southwood:Thank you for such great comments, so glad you enjoyed yourself and started to explore Pottery.
What an amazing day with Pat! As beginners, I thought this was going to be challenging to create pottery pieces in one session. Pat was brilliant in her teaching and guidance, all with fun and humour. And the finished pieces are delightful. The day has inspired me to explore further options. The soup was delicious.

Had a fantastic day learning pottery skills with Pat. Started as complete beginners and managed some decent pots by the end of the day.
It was informative and fun. Wear old clothes and be prepared to get mucky. Pat’s a great teacher and good company too.
Thanks for an excellent day.

Had an enjoyable day 'potter-ing'. Went with the hope of 1 decent pot - but with Pat's patient tutelage made 10 'organic' creations! Not too many were relegated into the Bin of Shame. A lovely location and Pat's sense of humour made for a Grand Day Out. Fabulous lunch whilst watching the snow fall! Very therapeutic and I'm looking forward to collecting the post firing results. Thank you Pat.

Excellent day! It was an immensely enjoyable experience. Pat shared her knowledge and skills with humour and patience - and just the right amount of assistance when needed. Add to that a delicious homemade soup (very welcome on a cold, wet winter's day) and you have a winning mix. Book on now - you won't regret it!

A thoroughly enjoyable experience on every level! Pat is a fantastic teacher who guided me over the two hours from being a complete novice to producing some fairly decent and totally useable pots! A very relaxed and friendly atmosphere made this a great activity to completely switch off from the hum drum and get immersed in learning new skills. Superb tea too Pat!
I would thoroughly recommend and I can't wait to try it again!
A great evening with a dear friend...just because! Thank You!

Excellent tuition from an inspiring teacher! From arrival we were made to feel welcome and relaxed within Pat's studio. We learned about the types of clay, how to prepare it and the basics of wheel thrown pottery techniques. Pat is an outstanding tutor, patient with beginners and always ready with a new challenge for those with more experience. Whether you are advanced in ceramics or a complete beginner, Pat will take your learning and techniques to higher levels. Thank you Pat. We had a fabulous time in your studio.

Just spent an excellent day hand building pots ready for smoke firing.
Lovely venue in Pat's workshop, excellent 'learn by doing' approach with plenty of tools and slips to play with.
We had a mix of experienced and newbie potters, and we all made pots we're proud of. The small class sizes (can only be 4 or 5 at a time) work well as there is plenty of tutor attention but also a really relaxed social atmosphere.
Good value for money as (unlike other courses I've tried) as well as the day's experience I feel like I made a good number of rather nice pots.
Looking forward to the smoke firing day now.
