"Had a fantastic day learning pottery skills with Pat. Started as complete beginners and managed some decent pots by the end of the day. It was informative and fun. Wear old clothes and be prepared to get mucky. Pat’s a great teacher and good company too. Thanks for an excellent day."

"Had an enjoyable day 'potter-ing'. Went with the hope of 1 decent pot - but with Pat's patient tutelage made 10 'organic' creations! Not too many were relegated into the Bin of Shame. A lovely location and Pat's sense of humour made for a Grand Day Out. Fabulous lunch whilst watching the snow fall! Very therapeutic and I'm looking forward to collecting the post firing results. "A thoroughly enjoyable experience on every level! Pat is a fantastic teacher who guided me over the two hours from being a complete novice to producing some fairly decent and totally useable pots! A very relaxed and friendly atmosphere made this a great activity to completely switch off from the hum drum and get immersed in learning new skills. Superb tea too Pat! I would thoroughly recommend and I can't wait to try it again! A great evening with a dear friend...just because! Thank You!"

We learned about the types of clay, how to prepare it and the basics of wheel thrown pottery techniques. Kate reviewed: Hand Building For Smoke Firing

"Just spent an excellent day hand building pots ready for smoke firing. Lovely venue in Pat's workshop, excellent 'learn by doing' approach with plenty of tools and slips to play with. We had a mix of experienced and newbie potters, and we all made pots we're proud of. The small class sizes (can only be 4 or 5 at a time) work well as there is plenty of tutor attention but also a really relaxed social atmosphere. Good value for money as (unlike other courses I've tried) as well as the day's experience I feel like I made a good number of rather nice pots. Looking forward to the smoke firing day now."
