Amazingly therapeutic weekend of making some lovely silver pieces. Lucy is very clear and patient and helps guide you through each step but is always there to help you when you need it. A truly lovely time spent, would highly recommend.
I completed an intensive beginners silver jewellery weekend with Lucy! It was lovely, I really enjoyed the course it was so informative and I feel like I learnt lots very quickly, yet it was a relaxed atmosphere. During the course we made silver stacking rings, a band ring, a pendant and earrings. It was COVID-friendly, there was screens between the desks and sanitiser. Thank you Lucy for sharing your knowledge and for an enjoyable weekend! I would recommend the course, and I am thinking about doing another at some point in the future.
We had a fantastic experience making our wedding rings with Lucy. The finished rings are perfect and look completely professional. We don't live locally so we had our initial consultation on Zoom but Lucy was really helpful and answered all the questions we had about the process. The bride's wedding band needed to be specially shaped to fit around an unusual engagement ring but Lucy was great at troubleshooting and making sure it was a perfect fit. We especially liked the fact that we could choose our own metal type, shape and finish so they were unique to us, plus we didn't have to share the workshop with other couples so we always got help when we needed it. The day itself was so much fun, we loved learning about the process and using all the tools! We also highly recommend Lucy's delicious homemade brownies.
We had a wonderful time creating our wedding bands with Lucy. From first contact through to hallmarking, Lucy was hugely helpful, a great teacher, and so generous, with many thoughtful touches as part of a well-planned workshop.
When first considering making bands, we were wary they would look a bit rustic/homemade which wasn't quite the look we were after, but we were delighted to come away with practice and final rings packed with meaning and memories that you would never know weren't made by a professional (of course, having Lucy on hand at all times to guide us through avoided any disasters!).
Very happy to recommend Lucy and her work.
I got given this as a Christmas present, and it surpassed all my expectations. We had the opportunity to learn and make so much over the two days, but it never felt like we were rushing through any of the processes. I was so happy with my pieces - for the fact we were all total beginners I thought the standard we came away with was really high. I put this down to Lucy being a really good and patient teacher. I feel like it has given me a good foundation to learn more and hopefully continue making jewellery at home, or on another course. The studio itself was lovely, bright and airy (on a very hot day), and Lucy made us some delicious brownies.
And if all that isn't enough, Lucy's has a really beautiful dog who came and sat with us throughout the weekend (!!!) who was a lovely presence and made it even more special.
What a wonderful day! We were well look after and everything was clear explained both before and during. We’ve been together 14 year and married for 9 but never did the ring bit. We wanted to find something that had meaning for us both. With 3 kids at grandmas for the day (and overnight) The whole experience was really special and a wonderful way to spend time together and now we have beautiful rings which we made for each other together. We will treasure the rings and the experience for the rest of our lives.
The workshop is beautiful and very well equipment and Lucy is a superb craftsperson and excellent an teacher. Thank you so much for everything.
My partner and I had a fantastic day with Lucy when making our wedding rings this February. Lucy was patient and guided us through the process, helping to relief our anxieties as we went.
Sadly, our wedding was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. But we feel so lucky to have had this experience before our wedding plans came to a halt.
We had asked for our rings to be engraved with the date of our April 2020 wedding. When it was confirmed that our wedding wouldn’t be going ahead Lucy went the extra mile to try and intervene and stop the engraving. We were so relieved when she informed us she’d stopped them in time. We really appreciate her efforts, as having the original date would have made a difficult situation that little more painful.
Although we haven’t been able to get married yet, we are very grateful for the positive and lasting memories we have of this day before lockdown. We found the process very interesting and I would highly recommend this workshop.
Thank you so much Lucy.
I am one of Lucy's longer-term students. Learning to work with metals and to create unique, handcrafted jewellery was an ambition I had long held, and Lucy has patiently helped me to realise that dream. I was excited by my first class and I continue to be enthused, inspired and challenged by her classes. She helps students develop our skills and stretch our expectations of our work, whilst keeping us grounded and practicing past learning alongside the new. The studio is a lovely place to be and I have some beautiful pieces of jewellery to show for my work and Lucy's guidance. My interest in buying jewellery is much reduced now I have the capability to make my own, but I appreciate the cost because I have a much clearer idea of the work and time involved in the manufacture.
Me and my partner undertook a wedding ring making course with Lucy. We were both slightly anxious about it being a full day course, but it absolutely flew by! Lucy is patient, knowledgable and a brilliant teacher. Me and my partner are completely different ends of the spectrum with regards to skill but Lucy gave us both exactly the level of teaching we needed. I am so pleased with how our rings turned out, I still can't quite believe we actually made them! Would definitely recommend Lucy to anyone and I intend to return for a jewellery day at some point!
I so enjoy my lessons. Lucy is a great teacher in terms of skills and techniques and lets me choose how I apply this to various projects and pieces I make. The workshop is really well equipped and it's fun working in a small group. I have made good friends with various students over the years.
Oh my God, what an experience! I was a bit nervous beforehand but as soon as I stepped into Lucy's workshop she put us both at ease and reassured me that I really wasn't going to mess up my fiance's ring. The workshop is beautifully laid out, warm and inviting and Lucy even put on a playlist according to our music taste!
Making the rings was really fun! Lucy explained everything to us step by step and she was there if we had any questions or worries. She's very patient! We got to make our rings in silver before making our final rings in our melted down family gold. Lucy even went the extra mile and made my silver ring a little bigger so I could wear it on another finger.
The whole experience, from consultation to making the rings was amazing. Lucy is so accommodating and her mum makes the most excellent brownies! Our rings hold so much sentiment and are beautiful too!
Thanks so much Lucy, I highly recommend this workshop to anyone getting married!
I cannot sing loudly enough about Lucy's jewellery making classes. I have been attending a session a week for the last embarrassingly long time. This is because Lucy is highly skilled as a maker, and teacher. The fact that there is a maximum of 4 students per class has meant that she can pass on skills easily to a small group but can also tailor make projects according to the student's level. The environment is sunlit (even in the rain) and this is not only because of the ample windows but because of the general niceness of students. Needless to say the studio, which looks out to her garden on one side and to allotments on the other, is very well equipped.
I've done 2 'terms' and intend to keep going.
Lucy is top of her trade and I feel lucky to have stumbled across such a great teacher.
I have been attending Lucy's courses for almost a year and I love it. Lucy is very patient, very talented and helps you realise your vision - Thursday evenings is my self indulgent time and the highlight of the week.
Love, love, love it! X
I cannot stress enough the brilliance of this course. The small class size means that learning is fast and you accomplish a lot in a small amount of time. Lucy's attentive and friendly teaching style in her warm and light studio is the perfect way to learn.
An excellent course. It is very intense but relaxed at the same time, you will learn a lot.
Lucy is an excellent teacher and will guide you through all the stages needed to create your pieces, you will be busy for 2 days but will be given a lot of information and guidance.
It has given me the confidence to further develop my own jewellery range....time to create some special pieces!
We had such a fantastic day with Lucy making our wedding rings. She was really patient with us, particularly when I was struggling through with a particularly tricky design and guided us the whole way through.
From someone who was perhaps a bit skeptical about making our rings before hand, I can safely say that this was one of the best decisions we have made.
Thanks for making it such a great day!

What an experience! I had no idea how special it would be to make our rings.
I knew that I wanted bespoke rings, but I didn’t know that the process of making them would be so emotional. Lucy is wonderful. She is such an integral part of the day, her presence and aura make you feel really comfortable and confident.
I felt incredibly close to Dan while we were working, helping each other and making decisions together. You are walked through the process of making the rings in a way that allows you to learn for yourself while making sure that things go to plan. I loved that we got to make a practice ring that we could take home. Our rings have turned out perfectly, we are both over the moon.
I can not recommend making your rings with Lucy enough. Please don’t think twice, it’s an experience that really kicks off the wedding magic.
I was given this course as a Christmas present and wow!
Lucy made everyone feel very welcome and had a lovely style of teaching her craft. She taught us various techniques such as using and threading hacksaws, cutting copper and silver, bending, making stacker rings, pendants, earrings, warming metals to make them malleable, soldering (different types for different adhesions of metals, how to calculate ring sizes prior to making, how to use power tools, sanding techniques, oxidising techniques etc.
To be honest, at times I felt like a kid in a sweet shop as I came away with stacker rings, earrings, pendants, a wider barrel type ring and I made them all myself.
Lucy also provided a lovely lunch on both days.
This course is exceedingly good value for money and makes a wonderful gift.
I now have some skills that I can practice at home and make gifts for other people and myself.
Thanks, Lucy you're a star.
Thoroughly enjoyed this weekend of jewellery making. I had never done it before but was amazed at what I was able to create and produce under Lucy's excellent tuition. The whole setting and environment are a lovely space to learn to make silver jewellery under her diligent patient guidance. Great experience and great value. Thank you
