This workshop was excellent, Louise is a brilliant teacher and gave so many useful pearls of wisdom when it came to drawing faces. It's made me look at portraits in a completely different way, and I cannot wait to start putting into practice what I have learnt. I would definitely recommend this to anyone as it was great fun. Looking forward to doing more future workshops with Louise.
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
It was great to have you on the workshop Jenna and I look forward to seeing you in the new studio sometime later in the year.I would just like to thank you for a really inspiring four weeks.
I really enjoyed it and now I feel more confident to be Bold Bright and Brave with my painting.
Thanks again and I would love to do another course in the future.
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
It was lovely to meet you Sonia and share the course with you. I loved your enthusiasm and your piece was insightful and a celebration of energy, colour and light - just the way I like it! I look forward to seeing you again in the new studio later in the year. This was my first experience of art classes and I can't wait to go again. Louise does the artwork at the same time as you which is a real help. She gives you space to find your own rhythm with periods of instruction. I had a very warm welcome and she immediately put me at ease. I'm looking forward to starting my second course with her next week. Thank you Louise.
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
It was great to meet you Tina. You were a delight to teach, created some fabulous drawings, and I'm looking forward to seeing you for the life-drawing course this week. Louise xThis is the third course I've taken at Louise's lovely studio - and I may have enjoyed this one most of all! Louise is very action focussed as a teacher, so you start drawing early on in the session, and this means you get three pieces to take home...which is so gratifying. But she doesn't hurry you at all, just motivates and encourages with comments, tips and demonstration. So you're able to totally immerse yourself in your creative process and focus, which is both deeply relaxing and restorative.
Highly recommend Louise's courses and will be back for more.
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thank you for your great review Pippa. It was a delight to see you again and I enjoyed working with you. See you again soon I hope. Louise xI spent a really enjoyable day playing with charcoal and exploring the human face in Louise’s bright and welcoming studio.
Having had no art instruction since O Levels (50+ years ago), I felt a little nervous about what to expect. I needn’t have worried. Louise is very friendly and encouraging and gradually takes you through various exercises leading on to a final portrait using the techniques taught.
I learned such a lot and came away wanting to do more!
I recommend Louise’s course and would encourage you to ‘have a go’ whatever your ability.
Thank you Louise, I’m looking forward to my ‘Colour’ workshop in a few weeks time!
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
What a wonderful review, thanks so much Jill. I'm glad you feel you got so much out of the workshop. I look forward to seeing you again soon for our colour day. Louise xI am currently doing this course for the second time. Louise creates a theme for each session with the aim of producing a self portrait at the the end. It is challenging but extremely rewarding. We look at skin tones, light and dark and how to create a balanced composition. She helps you produce a piece of art which you can be proud of. Would highly recommend.
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thank you so much Claire for your wonderful review. It is always a pleasure and I look forward to seeing you next week for the final day of self portraiture on this course. Louise xThis course was really well set up and all the materials provided were exactly what was needed. Excellent instruction and guidance given by Louise made the course interesting and challenging .Best of all it made you feel like you had made progress in improving your own observation and drawing skills . Louise always makes the sessions relaxed and enjoyable and it’s a lovely way to spend a day at something you are keen to improve on .
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thank you so much for the lovely review Jackie. Looking forward to seeing you in the studio again soon. Louise xI just wanted to reiterate how much I enjoyed your human faceworkshop today. I felt welcome and safe and thought your studio was a de lightful place in which to spend a few hours playing with charcoal. I loved the way you explained the techniques and although I have attempted some portraits, I definitely learned and practised something new today - always satisfying and leaves you wanting more.
I will definitely keep an eye on your courses and hope to meet up with you again at some future date.
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thank you Jan. It was a pleasure to meet you and to see your fab portrait emerge. I look forward to seeing you again at some point in the studio. Louise xThis workshop was excellent, Louise is a brilliant teacher and gave so many useful pearls of wisdom when it came to drawing faces. It's made me look at portraits in a completely different way, and I cannot wait to start putting into practice what I have learnt. I would definitely recommend this to anyone as it was great fun. Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thank you so much Jenna - a fab review! It was a pleasure to meet you and I hope to see you again soon.Thoroughly enjoyed this - it gave me the confidence to experiment with acrylics using a much larger paintbrush than I'd have imagined using before, learning how to build up layers of paint with different brush strokes to create an acceptable picture. Louise is a very competent and capable teacher, she explains the process clearly from start to finish and is so inspiring! I'm really looking forward to another workshop!!
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thank you so much Fiona - looking forward to seeing Thursday for our Human Face & Portraiture course. Always a pleasure xI had a brilliant time and I learnt so much about the layering process. Louise was so helpful and welcoming and I really enjoyed meeting her and the other people at the workshop. Highly recommend her courses and I look forward to doing another in the future!
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thanks so much Rosie. It was a pleasure to have you on the workshop and I will look forward to seeing you again and following your own artistic journey. xThis was one cf the first classes I did with Louise and I'm so pleased it was because it gave the confidence to try others, safe in the knowledge that Louise's teaching style would get the best out of me, whatever the medium being used. In this case it was charcoal. Louise leads by example and breaks things down into manageable chunks so I didn't feel overwhelmed and was able to relax into the session and really enjoy seeing what could be achieved with the medium. Such a liberating experience and I ended up with a finished landscape which far exceeded my expectations to such a degree that I still can't believe I did it! But that's all down to Louise's skill as a teacher and the way she makes you feel with her encouraging and knowledgable approach. Spending time in Louise's lovely studio is a real treat!
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thank you so much for the fab review Su. A pleasure as always. xI've attended several of Louise's workshops and despite feeling rather nervous at tackling the human face I needn't have worried. I was amazed and delighted at what I achieved and this is all down to Louise's exceptional teaching skills. She has the gift of leading you through step by step from warm up exercises to end result in a way that is both instructional and encouraging, and really gets the best out of you. Louise's studio is a delightful space, filled with light and is a pleasure to work in. Her classes are never too crowded so you really feel you have individual attention when you need it. Thank you Louise, Im looking forward to signing up to your new programme!
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Ah, thanks so much Su for your wonderful review. I can't wait to get back to teaching again and look forward to seeing you very soon. xI found this workshop to be very enjoyable and satisfying. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the facilities were excellent. With Louise's tuition, demonstration, and encouragement I produced results that pleased and surprised me. I didn't hesitate to attend further workshops on creative drawing and life drawing, which again achieved better than expected results. I will certainly return once a new program of events becomes available.
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thank you James. Always a pleasure to teach you - I look forward to seeing you back as soon as we can work safely in the studio. Louise xThe course was well run and we were very Covid safety conscious. Louis had made sure we all had a safe workspace to work in. We all produced an exceptable painting of South Beach Tenby and I for one learnt about using different colours for different effects. It was good value for money and interesting to see that although we all worked from the same painting the results were quite different
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thanks so much Maggie - glad you enjoyed the colour work and the workshop in general. Hope to see you again soon. xLouise had gone to great lengths to ensure a safe environment with ample space and fresh air.
The course itself was very well run; with small class numbers I felt that we all had the attention that we needed, and it was great to see so many people produce complete paintings under Louise's tuition. Although we used her original painting to work from, each one had it's subtle differences.
Highly recommended.
Response from Louise Burdett Artist:
Thanks so much Tina - it was a pleasure to spend the day with you. Hope to see you again. x
