I came from Coventry as an absolutel beginner but Laura's classes was 100% worth it. I didn't even know if I liked watercolour painting but after this amazing experience I have fallen in love! Laura's studio is the most inspiring place I have ever been. She is a brilliant teacher with amazing attitude. During the course Laura is always willing to give you a lot of tips and attention. I am already planning to book another class in the future. Honestly I can recommend to everybody!
I thoroughly enjoyed this course and would highly recommend it. It was perfect for beginners. The studio is inspirational, the food very and the tuition excellent. I had a wonderful day, thank you Laura.
I went to Laura’s Birds and Wildlife Watercolour workshop. I am a complete beginner and was a little apprehensive but I needn’t have been. Laura was very welcoming and there was no pressure, I learnt so much in the 3 hours I was there and actually came away with some artwork I was proud of! Totally inspiring, I highly recommend it.
I highly recommend Laura's course to anyone interested in taking up the art of lino cutting. I have read and absolutely endorse all the positive comments made in the previous reviews.
As an absolute beginner I recently spent a most enjoyable day in her studio. Nice company, with an inspiring, patient and knowledgeable teacher. By the end of the day I had been shown and had followed all the processes and produced my own successful lino prints. All set to carry on with a most rewarding and relatively inexpensive hobby.
What more can I add to convince anyone? Oh yes! Laura also provides excellent refreshments.
Put quite simply - the course was inspiring.
The studio is a really tactile and happening space and Laura conveys her expertise in a very natural and engaging way.
There were so many special touches to the day - to list them all would be to spoil the surprise of attending one of Laura's workshops - which I wholeheartedly recommend should anyone reading wish to experience lino cutting and printing.
Laura was totally inspiring and gave so much information and knowledge on the day. As she only has a very small group of four this enabled us all to have as much of her time with each of us as necessary.
She also provided the most excellent afternoon tea to enhance the wonderful day of watercolour painting. Thank you so much Laura.
I went to Laura’s watercolour class (Florals and Botanicals) as a complete beginner hoping to come away from the class with some good advice and tips. I can honestly say that Laura has now given me the confidence to go away and put into practice what I learnt on the 5 hour course. The time simply flew and I loved every minute and the afternoon tea provided was absolutely gorgeous.
My husband bought me a course for my birthday - I've been along this week and absolutely loved it! Laura's studio is a delight - open, airy, full of artist's 'stuff' which makes it a joy to wander around and explore, and provides plenty of inspiration. I was a complete beginner, and a little nervous, but Laura put me at ease and she paced the day nicely so that I was able to progress at my own speed and grow in confidence over the day. A small group meant she was around and able to provide plenty of attention and help.
Refreshments and lunch are provided - beautiful home made sandwiches and cakes, and plenty of tea! I left the day with a painting that I am quite frankly astounded by - as a complete beginner, I never dreamed the end result would be so successful. I am now inspired to carry on at home and plan on getting myself some materials to experiment with. I'd heartedly recommend this course to anyone - it's a real treat :)
My wife bought me a place on one of Laura Andrew's Saturday courses for my birthday. I had done some painting since my retirement, and had been on some art courses, but it was very interesting to get some input from a different artist. Laura was very welcoming, provided an excellent lunch, and, more importantly, showed me how to approach painting from a new and refreshing angle. She showed me how to look at the subject in a way I hadn't used before, and how to see colour in deep shadow. She provided the flowers, etc, to create a still life, the canvas, and the paints - water soluble oil paints by Winsor and Newton, which I hadn't used before, on this occasion. When I was clearly coping with the subject, she left me to it, but when she saw that I needed help, she provided it. All in all, I had a very enjoyable day, I learnt a lot, and I would certainly recommend her courses, both to a complete novice, and to someone like myself who had already done a fair bit of painting.
So enjoyed every moment at Laura’s studio, there was a warm welcome on arrival and her warmth and encouragement never wavered throughout the quickest day I have known, ending with a picture we were all proud to take home. Thank you so much you have made me love oils now I know where to go with them!
Would love to do it all again and soon.
A group of 3 friends had an excellent day doing water colours with Laura. We all wanted to 'loosen up' our painting style to learn to let go and explore. Laura achieved that and we all chose to paint a 'simple' iris on its own after having played with colours, mixes, ink, techniques, etc.
We had coffee/tea on arrival and a very lovely afternoon tea for lunch.
Cannot wait to be back for another sessions. Highly recommended.
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our linoprinting workshop with Laura. She is a knowledgable and patient teacher and is very encouraging and helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried and we enjoyed a lovely lunch in her light-filled room overlooking the park. It was a very pleasant day and at the end of it we came away with some amazing prints which look much better than I could have imagined. I am definitely going to carry on doing linoprinting and Laura's expert information about the products to use will be very helpful. This was not just a one-day workshop for me, it was (hopefully) the start of a new and absorbing hobby. The next day at work I felt more relaxed than I have done for ages, and I really believe it was an after effect of the wonderful creative day we'd had. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful day, made very welcome and put at our ease. Laura is an accomplished artist and teaches from her experience. We had a class in watercolours and painted an iris, however, there were lots of flowers to choose from. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day which passed very quickly. Will definitely be going back for another class.
Lunch was very yummy, sandwiches and scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
Laura has given me the confidence to believe that I can do this and for that I can say a big thank you.
An excellent course. The group was just the right size - individual attention and time to chat. We started with colours, we learned and practised techniques and by the afternoon we were ready to create our own watercolour paintings. Laura is very encouraging and a good teacher, lovely studio and lunch - perfect.
I did a lino printing one day workshop with Laura at her studio in Lincoln. Laura makes you feel very welcome and it was a very relaxed day. She was very informative, interesting and encouraging. Together with the information that she emailed as a follow-up I had everything I needed to carry on printing at home which was exactly what I wanted. She provides an excellent lunch and plenty of tea and coffee too!
What a fantastic day had an amazing time and learnt so much. Laura is a brilliant teacher guiding you to improve and try new skills. I would highly recommend this course. Cannot wait to book the next course with her.
A brilliant art class! I went as a complete beginner in watercolour, learnt about materials and techniques in a relaxed environment with just a few others, meaning everyone got a good level of attention. Laura gave me the confidence to have a go, achieving very pleasing results. Lunch was great and the day passed so quickly. The follow up email with a list of materials and information is very useful, I can’t wait to have a go myself at home.
I recently attended one of Laura's 1-2-1 oil painting workshops and this was my first attempt at oil painting. I was attracted by the style of one of Laura's floral paintings on her website and, with her support and encouragement, I finished the day by creating an oil painting in a style that was completely different from anything I had created before. Laura's insight into the use of adventurous colour was a revelation and she has given me the confidence to be more experimental in developing the loose style that I want to achieve.
Laura's workshop surpassed my hopes and expectations and I would recommend a workshop with Laura to anyone who wants to develop confidence and try something new in their painting. It was a joy to paint in a beautiful studio with great company and a delicious lunch. I have every intention of attending more of Laura's workshops.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day with Laura. She is a very clear and patient teacher, and was extremely encouraging, working with all three of us to make sure we managed to achieve what we wanted.
Laura's studio is a lovely space to work in - there is lots of inspiring artwork to look at and the atmosphere is so calm and purposeful that hours go by without you noticing. Lino cutting is definitely absorbing! I hadn't done any lino cutting since I was at school, but Laura's guidance was superb, and I was really pleased with the prints I made.
All in all, a fantastic course which I'd definitely recommend.
A wonderful day spent with Laura in her delightful studio. I learned lots about watercolour techniques, the equipment to use and the confidence to have a go. Thrilled with my finished painting
