Better even than I had hoped.
Health and safety, demonstration of a series of possibilities, then helped as I got on with it…… and provided with T / Coffee.
I left with 5 pieces including what I had hoped to make,
Excellent day, highly recommended.
Really fun day, made some lovely pieces. Would love to do it again soon.
Myself and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed our half day enamelling with Katie yesterday. Being complete novices, we were carefully and effectively guided through a truly creative experience and we both come away with 2 pieces we designed and made ourselves! It was a lovely gentle atmosphere and the time flew by. I would be very keen to do the same all over again! Thank you, Katie.
I had such a fun and informative day today amid the beautiful countryside of Gloucestershire. Katie is an outstanding teacher - a natural! She was careful to explain about the health and safety aspects and went on to explain the basics, traditional techniques as well as cutting-edge techniques too. She had examples of all the different stages so that we could touch and see, and so that we knew what to expect as we built up the layers of enamel. She carefully demonstrated the different stages in a way that kept you interested and engaged. She was mindful to ensure we were all making work quite quickly and magically ensured there was never a queue for the kiln. She built our confidence in the medium whilst ensuring we were also working safely. In Katie's half day workshop the materials were supplied and she had everyone's work station all organised prior to us arriving with a rainbow array of enamel powders, small glass nuggets and millefiori. There was a wide range of copper blanks to choose from too. Katie was kind enough to allow me to incorporate my own design and guided me in how I might get my desired result. Loved it and booking up again!
Just three on this day course, which was ideal for both beginners and those with a little experience of enamelling on copper sheet and foil. Katie is a great teacher and we covered a lot of ground, with both opaque and transparent enamels, wet packing and the use of flux. Katie provided a a variety of copper blanks, all enamels and ancillary equipment and we all made items with which we were delighted. I came away much more confident in my techniques and abilities. Thank you Katie.
Response from Katie Sanderson, enamel artist:Hi Mike, thank you so much for your kind review, it is hugely appreciated.
Four of us have booked a full day’s course with Katie. Although some of us have already done some enamelling, we were delighted to find out a number of new (to us) techniques.
Katie is very knowledgeable about her craft and is enthusiastic about passing the knowledge onto her students. She is incredibly well organised, creating a very safe working environment.
We’ve all went away happily tired with a number of enamelled pieces.
Thank you, Katie.
Response from Katie Sanderson, enamel artist:Hi Olga, thank you so much for your very kind review. I hope to see you all again.
I did this course early July and it was fantastic. There were 4 people on the course and we all went away with a set of beautiful enamelled items. Katie demonstrated the basic techniques, but most of the day is about having a go with Katie there to help and offer suggestions. She is very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. It was a very relaxed and supportive atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to try enamelling, who wants to improve their enamelling or just anyone who would like to try something new.
Response from Katie Sanderson, enamel artist:Thank you so much Eleanor, wish you lots of fun exploring this wonderful craft further.
