I had the best day with Jonathan, he is funny, friendly and very generous with his knowledge. I have been to other workshops and this one was by far the most informative I have been on. It makes a big difference to be taught by someone with a teaching background. The day was well paced and at no time are you left wondering what to do next. I left feeling excited to try my new skills and to increase my tools with recommendations rather than guesswork.

Brilliant! Have attended various one day courses nationally. They're regularly oversubscribed and the tutors although great at their craft, aren't always good teachers...Cue Jonathan: very skilled at his craft and a fabulous teacher. He is very generous with his time and has put a great deal of thought and effort into the handouts he gives to his students.
The lunch and cookies provided are delicious too!
Cannot fault the day! Highly recommended.

Excellent weekend 2 day course. I learnt so much in a very comfortable environment. Jonathan was a brilliant teacher and his partner were both excellent hosts in every way. Can't believe that I made 3 pieces of jewellery ! Looking at dates for the next two day course on gem settings for this year.

What a fantastic day
Jonathan is an excellent teacher, and in just a single day we managed to make 2 pieces each under his direction.
Not only that but we were given a whistletop intense introduction to the world of silversmithing, along with plenty of humour, coffee (lovely bikkies), and a great lunch.
The first class factsheets that were emailed later have ensured that you can continue benefiting from his advice and guidance in the future.

I couldn’t have asked for more from this course. Jonathan is very professional, very funny and a great teacher. You really do leave this course feeling like you have everything you need to know to give it a go yourself - the techniques, the understanding of the what’s, why’s and how’s and lots of follow up information so you can make some sensible first time purchases to get you going. Highly recommended.

Jonathan is a very talented and knowledgable Jeweller, a wonderful teacher and a really lovely man. He made me feel very comfortable from the minute I arrived and provided yummy home made food and plenty of tea! From start to finish I enjoyed myself immensly and I strongly recommend this class to anyone with an interest in making jewellery at any level. Jonathan is really fun and very patient, he has a great work space and you will learn so much from him. Attending this course is one of the best choices i've ever made and I will be booking another session as soon as possible. Thanks again.

My partner and I combined a two-day silver jewellery making course and a one-day stone-setting course with Jonathan and had a fantastic time. We were both fairly new to the techniques taught but with Jonathan's expert guidance and wealth of knowledge we came away inspired to continue. Between us we made four rings, two pendants and a malachite necklace, all of which we were very pleased with, as were the friends and family we gave some of them to as gifts! Jonathan was incredibly friendly, helpful and a great teacher - and cooked us lovely lunches too! I am also very grateful for the follow-up information on where to buy materials and tools, as well as step-by-step worksheets which were very thorough. I would highly recommend the courses to anyone, whether beginners or those with some knowledge of jewellery making. Thank you again Jonathan - we will definitely be back for more!

I bought this experience for my mother-in-law and daughter for Christmas, so Jonathan had 3 generations in his Workshop! It was a great day, even more than I hoped for. Jonathan is a real delight so informative and a real good teacher/instructor. All credit to him for allowing each of us to work on bringing to life a piece of jewellery we imagined. The coffee flowed all day and I now have the recipe for the fabulous ginger biscuits, yum. Thank you for your patience and trust in us as novices.

My husband and I have had a very enjoyable and informative weekend. We had the opportunity to practice a wide range of techniques and learnt everything we need to know to continue with our new found hobby at home.
Excellent course, excellent teacher, would definitely recommend it.

Just spent 2 great days on Jonathan's silver jewellery course. After a thorough introduction to a range of skills, we were given lots of hands-on experience, encouraged and supported by Jonathan. On day 2 we each made a ring to our own design, and then in the afternoon completed our own silver project with guidance from Jonathan. The pace of the course was perfect, as was Jonathan's teaching style. Finally we were given advice on how to proceed with our individual silversmithing journey: we've all signed on for more! A huge thank you to Helen for the endless supply of delicious biscuits, tea, coffee and lunches.
An excellent course!

What was amazing ( besides the legendary ginger biscuits ) ( and the lunches ) was how much we packed into these 2 days, not just in terms of practical work, but also the amount of knowledge Jonathan gave us. The three of us on the course not only came away with a ring we had each made ( and now wear very proudly ! ), but also something we had personally chosen and designed - a pendant, ring, and torq in our cases. This means you come away with the enormous satisfaction of making something you want, yourself, and having the knowledge ( and comprehensive notes ) on how to progress beyond that into silversmithing as a hobby or career. Jonathan not only has vast experience and skill, but also the empathy and ability to give his students the confidence to believe they could do really well in the future if they want to. As you can probably tell, I was impressed.....!

I spent a couple of days with Jonathan and I must say that I enjoyed the two days immenseley. His welcoming friendly greeting sets you at ease immediately and his ability to pass on his skills is seond to none. I had been having difficulties with a few things but his patience and knowledge soon had these issues sorted. If you are thinking of a silversmithing course then do not hesitate to speak to Jonathan. I guarantee you will not regret it. A bottomless coffee jug and superb ginger biscuits combined with lunch are a very welcome bonus to a brilliant day.
Jonathan you are a star, thankyou.
Ps you have cost me a fortune.....My work bench seems to be sprouting new tools all the time.
A 5 star experience.

Just to say a big thanks for a great day that caters for a compete novice like me through to folks with more experience.
During the day we were give so much useful information ranging from buying tools, basic design for work stations, to technique use in making jewellery all backed up with practice and handouts.
All along the way Jonathan give plenty of encouragement and constructive criticism and ideas how to achieve your design.
Over the day I made a chunky silver ring with textured surface not perfect, but has given me the confidence to try out a few more pieces of jewellery
The other treat was lunch made by Jonathan partner along with tea coffee home biscuits plus freshly made mince tarts.
Again many thanks wil be booking more courses in new year

Jonathan and Helen are so generous and caring that it sets this experience apart from others I have experienced.
Great teaching and loads of extra info from Jonathan who imparts his knowledge in a gentle and positive way which makes you feel capable of achieving during the day.
His wife Helen adds a hugely welcoming edge to the day with her delicious home cooked treats and lively conversation over lunch.
This course was a gift from my children and I have thanked them since for finding me the best gift I’ve ever received ! Thank you to you both. Looking forward to learning more with you in the coming months.

Thank you Jonathan for a brilliant day!
We couldnt ask for any more out of this course. We went through all the different stages of silver jewellery making and we came away with a lovely ring and a pair of earrings.
The course has given us confidence to practise at home and we will definately book in with Jonathan again.
The lunch was lovely with the perfect homemade biscuits!!!

I had a fantastic time during Jonathan's two-day course! I enjoyed every second of it - the weekend was fun, informative and practical. I love jewellery making and I will definitely continue silver-smithing now I have begun. I have had so many compliments on the three pieces I made and this was because Jonathan was only too happy to share his skills and techniques. You will not regret booking this course!

We have just returned from the Saturday course with Jonathan, clutching the silver jewellery we have made. We have done a lot of Craft Courses through Craftcourses.com and this course is in the very top tier. The instruction was excellent with time to practice on Copper before moving to Silver in the afternoon. There was no time pressure to rush the completion of our pieces as we were using some new skills learnt in the morning, this is very welcome and there was no clock watching. We were very impressed that Jonathan could move us from a state of being completely unskilled to a level where we could produce something that we value. The lunch was excellent and the home made ginger nut biscuits are to die for (as mentioned by others). Overall an excellent day. For the record there were three of of us on the course (my wife and I and one other) and that was perfect.
