"Attended early May 2022, had a fantastic day. Dave is very knowledgeable, patient, skilful and a great teacher. During the day I got to shape a kitchen knife blade, harden it in a forge and cool in oil, grind the bevel edge, choose the wooden handle scales, shape them and secure to the blade, polish the handle and sharpen the blade. I left having learnt so much about blade-smithing and how to look after and sharpen kitchen knives, plus I have a beautiful kitchen knife that is razor sharp and will be in my family for many generations to come. thank you Dave for a wonderful day and making me feel so welcome."

"We had such a good afternoon learning how to cast resin blocks with Dave. The course is really well structured and Dave is great at explaining everything really clearly. He has lots of knowledge that he's built up over years, and he's happy to share with you on the course. Also, Dave has lots of materials to choose from so you can get really creative. At the end of the day I went home with a lovely sharp knife which is a pleasure to use. "Such a brilliant experience from start to finish! Dave was a very good teacher, explained what had to be done in a clear and precise way and nothing seemed to be a problem. I felt very at ease with the equipment and what had to be achieved as I knew that Dave was there guiding me as I worked. I have a wonderful new kitchen knife that takes pride of place but also the knowledge that I was able to craft it in a working forge and for that I am very proud. I would highly recommend this for anyone who likes to be creative and use their hands and power tools! I am thinking an axe blade might be next, they do come in handy!!! :)"

Seeing the final product once the handle and blade are oiled is a joy to behold. Learnt alot about how to manipulate patterns on high carbon steel aswell as the Rockwell chart."

"I did the course with my partner recently and it was absolutely fantastic. Dave is a great teacher, very knowledgeable (and patient) and a really nice guy. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into the entire day so it has a perfect balance of coming away with a really high quality knife, but also feeling like you've done the entire process yourself. It is really hands-on, which is great, and you get a lot of choice as to how your knife comes out. I should also mention that Dave was very keen to ensure the resulting knives were of a really high-quality. I couldn't recommend this course enough - great fun and the knives are fantastic quality. Would also recommend checking out Dave's instagram if you're in the market for some super cool knives."

"What a fantastic day! I thought I was booking onto a group class and was very pleasantly surprised to find it was a private session for just our party of two! Dave says he much prefers it this way and I do too as it meant he could be very attentive to us and give us all the help and demos we needed He was incredibly knowledgeable, and gave lots of tips and advice and even prepared an info pack for us to take away so we can do it in future. The course was tailored to what we hoped to get out of it. Dave's a top guy and was really friendly and so easy to get along with. Could not recommend the course more!"

"I was fortunate enough to have one to one tuition with the skilled and enthusiastic Dave while I constructed a chef's knife with beautiful wooden scales, (handle). This is a great course and every operation takes you closer to the finished product. It was very satisfying to see the transformation of a flat piece of steel and two pieces of wood to the gleaming finished article. Highly recommend."
