"By far and away the best experience day I have ever attended, an absolutely fantastic day! Dave is very knowledgeable, patient, and a great teacher, striking the balance perfectly between the practical and explaining the science behind what we were doing. During the day I shaped my blade on the grinding wheel, heated it to 820(ish) degrees in a forge and quench it in oil, made a handle from scratch and attached it, and worked the finished blade to razor sharp. We even had time at the end of the course for Dave to run through some the basics of wet stone sharpening. At the end of the day I left having had an outrageously good time and with a handmade knife made from local steal that will be used daily and will take pride of place in my knife collection. Really can’t recommend this course enough – huge thanks again Dave! "

"I attended the course yesterday and came away not only with a beautifully hand-crafted K-tipped kitchen knife, but also a permanent grin on my face. Dave is a very methodical and meticulous tutor with plenty of experience and more importantly, patience. I have never done metalwork before but Dave was always there guiding me through each step of the way through shaping of the blade, forging and immersing it in oil to cool, shaping & sanding the handle and finally hand-polishing the blade. He even allowed me to make this into a single-beveled Kiritsuke knife. I have no hesitation in recommending this course to anyone who is looking for a rewarding experience. Many thanks, Dave! "

"Should I, or shouldn't I, travel 90 miles for a 2 hour course. Having now done it, it is a no brainer. It was brilliant. As a trainer myself it was great to be in the presence of someone who not only knew their craft, but knew how to share it so professionally. I came away totally motivated to add this to my hobbies list. Dave himself is so easy to listen to with his delivery calm and with a very high level of attention to detail. Dave is very well prepared with a full safety briefing at the outset. He is very considerate to each persons needs and tremendously patient to ensure you each come away with something you will be delighted with. His knowledge of the subject is extensive and he is very happy to share this with you. If you were wanting to embark on a resin casting career or craft, the information he provides you with to take home is very useful.
