I loved my day! Heidi was a brilliant teacher and it was great fun and very interesting to do my first bit of silver work. Thank you so much, bit late with the review I know. Better late than never, I say. x Kes

Flux n Flame is a haven of creativity, friendship and a safe place to express yourself through jewellery making. Al and Jesa have taken me to places that I didn’t know existed in my walk to discover how deep my creativity goes. I am constantly learning and have developed a freedom of flow that I have never experienced before. They are so patient and have gently encouraged me to widen my view.
The class is chilled but also a hive of activity, I love the moment in the day when suddenly you realise it’s gone quiet and everyone is in the zone.
There’s no place I’d rather be than at the bench at Flux 'n Flame.

Love this place, it’s not just a jewellery learning experience it’s a place to make new friends drink tea and eat cake oh and jump off from the world for a few hours and get some much needed head space! (therapy), plus you even get to learn how to make some awesome jewellery!
I started going to flux n flame about 8/9 years ago now and it’s been the best thing I ever did, even my doctor told me to keep going for the creative therapy I most definitely needed.
From the sunset drive out in the country to the peaceful settings and surroundings you won’t be disappointed.
Being a newbie can be scary but you team up, someone makes you a nice hot drink and you can think of anything you want to try and create when you get there. The teachers are crazy but super awesome and in the best way.
Once you have decided what you want to make and done a simple sketch if needed, you are soon delving through the types of silver you can buy to make your first project and before you know it your have a jewellery saw in hand and creating!
Scared of blow torches! Well don’t be the teachers are on hand to spot you and assist you through every step of the process!
Come join the new family you never knew you had or wanted! I did and now I’ve been running my own jewellery business for the last 7 years and given up my day job. But you can just take it up as a hobby if you like!
Birthday and Christmas gifts will never be a chore for friends and family, they will be your next project!!!

Al and Jesa are brilliant and inspiring teachers and I absolutely love my time at Flux’n’ Flame (more than 5 years now). A wide range of jewellery and silversmithing techniques are taught according to the individual’s wishes, and all with fun, warmth and masses of encouragement and support. You will be able to design and create beautiful, unique jewellery from the start (I have also been making a silver box and bowls) - addictive! I highly recommend Flux ‘n’Flame.

5 years later and still loving the workshops with Al and Jesa. I’ve learnt a huge amount and still learn something new every term. Jesa and Al have huge patience and support. Thank you for helping us all to achieve the pretty sparkly things we want to make 👍🥰

Would highly recommend going here either to learn basics or to further existing skills. I have been going here for many years now. Jesa, Al and Heidi are excellent teachers as well as very skilled jewellery designers and makers. I often feel I am “punching above my weight” in terms of what I want to make but am always encouraged to do exactly that - a mark of good teaching - the coffee’s not bad, either.

A great course with Jesa & Al who have the patience and the know how to help everyone whatever they are creating. Working at your own pace and on your own piece(s) you learn from them and from the rest of the group.
I have looked for a while for a course as flexible as this and I'm so pleased that I found them.
There were 8 of us on the course and 6 were returning having been before and wanting more. I don't blame them - I've already booked another course for next year.
I started with very little experience and left feeling inspired to try more.
Thanks for a brilliant 3 days.

Excellent in every respect. This was my second visit to Flux ‘n Flame, but my first summer school, which allowed more time to develop ideas. As always Jesa and Al were superb in their patience, clear explanations and general encouragement. I came away feeling that I’d definitely learned new skills and had the goods to prove it. Although I have to travel a great distance to get to Dorset, it’s worth every bit of the effort. I shall return!

This year was my sixth summer on the course, and remains the highlight of summer. I can't imagine not having it to look forward to! Jesa and Al are the best (and nicest!) teachers I have come across. Whilst they give the time and attention needed, what amazes me everytime that sometimes it only takes a few words or a few seconds to discover a new idea or skill. Awesome!

I've been to the summer school twice, and I'll definitely go again. It's amazing to spend a week making jewellery and enjoying the Dorset countryside. Jesa and Al are patient, friendly and helpful, always trying to think of a way that things can be done. This year I spent a couple of days designing, tried new techniques and made some pieces I'm very pleased with. Can't recommend this highly enough. I love it, and can't wait for the next one.

This is the 4th year I have been to Summer School at Flux'n'Flame. and I highly recommend this course. My first year I was a complete beginner and I walked away with a bracelet using several different techniques. The course is suitable for both beginners and experienced silversmiths as Jesa and Al are available to teach, assist and discuss designs at all times. My confidence has grown with each visit to tackle something new and more complex each time. No design is ever viewed as too complicated and Jesa and Al will always look at the best way to achieve what you want. Their knowledge is immense and nothing is ever too much trouble. Aside from their teaching skill their workshop is fully kitted out with all the tools you could possibly need to make your piece of jewellery. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and everyone is made to feel extremely welcome. It is the highlight of my year, I'm devastated I can't attend next year due to my brothers wedding but I've already made the gifts at this years summer school! I will be sneaking in a weekend course to tide me over. Thank you Jesa an Al for another wonderful week.

This was my fifth Summer School at Flux 'n Flame and it wont be my last!
Thanks to Jesa and Al's patience and guidance I had my first attempts at tube setting and made two lovely bracelets and started on a third.
Everyone was friendly and helpful and it is the highlight of my year.

I've just been to Flux n Flame for the fifth year running and it was just as magical as it was the first time! Jesa and Al have endless patience and are always at hand to give encouragement and advice. I've learnt loads of new things every time and always love my creations. It's my favourite week of the year, can't wait for summer school number six

I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the one-day jewellery making course at Flux n Flame. Jesa was a brilliant and patient teacher, the workshop was well equipped and lovely and light in a beautiful setting and the class size small so you get lots of individual attention. I was thrilled with the two pieces I made and I would recommend this course to anyone interested in dipping their toe into the world of jewellery making. I can't wait for the opportunity to go back and do more...

Had the most wonderful therapeutic day. This is the second time I have been and was more pleased with my results this time. Heidi and Jesa are both very patient and encouraging. I will definitely be going again :)

I would thoroughly recommend Flux n Flame to anyone. I attended the 3-day course over the Aug bank holiday weekend and absolutely loved it! I feel very lucky to have found such a great course, brilliant workshop venue and tuition that is in my opinion, second to none, from Jesa and Ali. To spend time with, and learn from, two people who are truly passionate about their craft, is a joy in itself. I did just one day in May with one of their tutors, the lovely Heidi, and after making 3 silver rings, I was hooked! The group of people each time were lovely, friendly, helpful and it's inspiring to see what others have achieved. Lunch was fab, teas and coffees were flowing when needed, and 'cake and biscuits' were close by for those moments when my inspiration was ebbing! If you're wavering, don't - just book it. You won't be disappointed!

We had an excellent introductory day with a very patient tutor and well organised workshop in a beautiful setting. Can't wait to go back and learn more, and very pleased with our lovely rings .
