Having already attended the beginners course with Rebecca, this was a great follow on. There was a lot of information to take in, but Rebecca made it easy to follow and understand. I left feeling that the many of the mysteries of how a hand loom is set up and how the whole process of weaving works had been explained. It was a lovely couple of days; wish it had been longer as it is a great way to spend time. I am looking to buy my own loom and I know that Rebecca will be available with help and advice.
Rebecca is an amazing teacher and the beginners course at Dobby and Rose is a great introduction to weaving. Rebecca's easy way of teaching makes the overwhelming first introduction to a loom feel like a walk in the park. Always at the ready to answer any questions. My sample of weaving which I brought away with me has inspired me to sign up for the next course. Thank you Rebecca
I very much enjoyed Rebecca's laid back, patient approach to teaching which displays her understated but obvious passion for the subject. She clearly loves it and explains things very clearly (although there is a lot to take in). I am seriously thinking about following up the introductory day as I was inspired by the potential of the end products - absolutely love the lampshades Rebecca designs and produces!
What a lovely way to spend an evening. Rebecca’s calm and relaxed approach made us feel very welcome. Her passion, knowledge and experience was evident. We are so pleased with the woven samples that we bought home, now we just need to decide what to create with them! Thank you
A wonderful course with a relaxed yet productive atmosphere. Rebecca explained everything really well and answered our questions fully. We were able to explore many different weaving patterns to produce our take home sample. Rebecca's wealth of experience in terms of weaving and teaching shone through to help us iron out minor hiccups we had made and thus enable us to spot our own errors later. Her own work is stunning!
I’ve always been fascinated to find out how fabric is woven and this course was an excellent introduction. Rebecca explains things brilliantly in her lovely workshop and is very skilled, knowledgeable and professional. There was lots of hands on time to experiment with different patterns and understand how the loom works. I’ve come home with a lovely sample which I will use to make a purse.
My husband bought me this course after we had met Rebecca at the Maltings Christmas market. I am local and live all things fibre. I was really interested to have a go at traditional weaving. I wasn’t expecting a one in one so I was delighted to have 3 hours with Rebecca, sharing her top notch skills and experience and using her fantastic resources. I’m hoping to do an intermediate course in the future.
The three hour morning as an introduction to weaving was fantastic, Rebecca was inspiring and she made it so interesting. She touched on setting up the looms and within the first hour we were weaving ourselves and it was very rewarding to come home with a piece of handmade fabric. It was mesmerising and I would love to continue to learn more and progress. Thank you Rebecca for a fabulous morning, I couldn’t recommend this “taster” session more highly.
My wife and I had a super time with Rebecca, everything was well prepared for our basic's weaving session. Rebecca made us very welcome and quickly put us at ease. It did not takes us long to start producing interesting weaving (my pattern was a bit more obscure !) We are now keen to try out the loom we have and build on the very good instruction Rebecca gave, she made it so easy to follow.
We would recommend having a look at the lamp shades Rebecca makes , they are superb. We are hoping to have 2 made to fit it exactly with our new lounge decor .
Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who fancies a try at weaving.

I had previously completed the beginners weaving class and loved it and the intermediate class did not let me down. Rebecca is a great tutor and has a clear passion for her craft. It was so much fun chatting about yarn while learning a new skill. I would highly recommend the class.
A lovely setting for this excellent weaving introduction.. very informal but super informative and this complete novice managed a lovely decent sized and pretty sample to take away, thanks to Rebecca’s patience and help! Beware... this could start an addiction!
I'm now TOTALLY hooked on weaving after completing this course, and can't wait to go back for the intermediate course. Rebecca's course has the balance between theory and practical just right -she is really informative whilst giving plenty of time for actual weaving and experimenting with different designs. Rebecca is very encouraging and supportive, and the workspace has a lovely feel to it. The class was over far too quickly, and I came away buzzing with ideas for next time.
This is another fantastic course offered by Rebecca. Rebecca took us through the whole process of setting up a loom. I was fortunate enough to have my own loom and warping mill and to be able to do the entire process in practise was just amazing. Having done the Beginner's course previously I was under no illusion that process of setting up your own loom was the difficult part, but Rebecca made it very easy - everything was explained in detail and with great patience. I am absolutely hooked and can't wait to finish the scarf that I will have done on my own (with Rebecca's help, of course) and then move onto my next project. Whilst it is still a little daunting with the accompanying detailed course notes, I am confident that I can. Thank you Rebecca, you have inspired me to take up a new hobby which I am absolutely passionate about. I can't recommend Rebecca highly enough!
This course is a wonderful introduction to weaving which I would highly recommend. Rebecca had set up the loom ready for us and so once she had taught us the basics we were ready to go and give it a try. By the end ( which came all too soon!) we had a sample which demonstrated the various weave structures we had chosen to do. Thank you Rebecca!
I attended the two day Intermediate weaving course, and it was perfect for me! Rebecca took me through the whole process of setting up a loom, which I had never done before, and then taught me how to read the notation for various types of fabric which I wove as a sample piece. Every step was explained with great clarity, and through demonstrations, but mostly through guiding my own hands-on work. She hit the perfect balance between allowing me to get on with it myself, whilst being immediately on hand when I needed help! She was very skilled at turning my mistakes into learning opportunities, and I now feel confident to have a go at weaving on my own!

This course was a relaxed and fun way to spend a morning. The cosy studio was full of bright and varied yarns to choose from, Rebecca had done the hard work in setting up the looms for us, so all we had to do was learn the basics and enjoy playing with colour and pattern. We left with a piece of woven wool each, which we had made and that we can make into something to remind us of the day. I had no idea I would find weaving so fascinating and relaxing! Great experience, and the biscuits were very nice :-)
Excellent course, professional, friendly and encouraging. A fantastic introduction to weaving and I am very eager to continue.

I cannot wait to go back for a second class. With only two of us there I felt like I could ask all the questions I wanted. She has lovely looms and a very modern aesthetic.
What a wonderful morning! Rebecca was knowledgeable, patient and friendly. The looms were set up to go so we had plenty of time to try different weave patterns and colours, but Rebecca also took us through the process of setting up a loom in detail, giving my fellow trainee and me enough confidence to have a go ourselves. I am not naturally very creative but found it easy to create a piece of fabric which wowed my friends and family! I am now looking to buy my own loom as I enjoyed it so much. If you are wondering whether to give this course a go or not, then dither no more, do it! Thanks Rebecca, it was fabulous xx
