"What a great way to spend a day. Our host, Catherine was patient and encouraging in equal measure, she allowed us to explore our ideas and helped develop them into wonderful finished items that at the start of the day I would not have thought I was capable of producing. I would recommend to anybody of any age or skill level, experience is not required. Interesting topical chat and plenty of tea on tap all held in a wonderful old mill."

"I attended the Mosaics course in Higherford Mill yesterday. Catherine was a very good tutor and even though I struggled at the start (don’t let that put you off!), Catherine was very helpful & I managed to produce a lovely heart. I haven’t had time yet to grout my heart, but am looking forward to seeing the finished article very soon. I was a total beginner and would recommend this course to everyone. Thoroughly enjoyable day."

"I took a mosaic course on Saturday and was very impressed with Catherine our teacher, as a complete beginner I wasn't sure what to expect but was soon put at ease, Catherine had lots of idea's and lots of patience. I made a sunflower amazingly it turned out ok, I am definately inspired to do more mosaic work and wished I lived nearer to Nelson and Catherine classes.. "A very enjoyable day. Loved the hands on teaching and getting as messy as you like without having to worry about the furniture, which is the only way if you learn from a book! Learnt a lot about the different mosaic techniques and being able to experiment to find your own preferences is a definite advantage of doing the course. Catherine is very talented and knows her art inside out, plus a very nice lady. She made the class warm and friendly."
