I am a Devon based self taught textile artist specialising in free motion machine embroidery. I create contemporary botanical art, landscapes and seascapes, all inspired by the natural world around me.
I have chosen not to use fabric dyes or paints in my work so prefer to use up-cycled textiles where possible for their variety and individuality.
I am a member of The Embroiderers Guild, The Society For Embroidered Work and the Devon Artist Network
"This was a very well organised and extremely productive course. Alison's workshop is lovely and there were so many inspiring materials to choose from. It was great to come away with a fully completed and framed piece. We had a thoroughly and enjoyable day and would highly recommend this course."
"Seascapes was a great project to learn how to do free motion embroidery with no previous experience. Alison is a lovely teacher, with lots of ideas to inspire us and made it feel like an easy technique to learn. I'm sure I it will take a lot more practise to perfect but we all came away with finished pictures that didn't look look they were made by novices and we'd be happy to hand on the wall. A lovely day in a beautiful setting with a huge variety of materials to suit everyone."
"This was an excellent course, well taught. The resources to use were plentiful and varied. I came away with a great Dartmoor landscape, exactly what I wanted to achieve. Alison is a very good teacher with a wealth of experience which she is only too happy too pass on. I would highly recommend this course."
