Vivien Sharples reviewed: Drawing and Painting online tuition

"I have just had the first of 3 sessions with Tricia and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found Tricia to be inspirational! She is friendly and down to earth and explained everything very clearly. It was exactly the right mix of demonstration and hands on. Tricia guided me and gave me confidence, every step of the way. I was pleased to have clear homework tasks to practise the skills she taught me. Can’t wait for next week! Thank you Tricia."

Art with Tricia responded:

"Thanks for the lovely review. So glad you enjoyed the session. It's always a bit daunting to learn something new, especially online so really pleased it was pitched to the right level. Lots more to learn in the next two weeks!"

Jayne & Norman reviewed: Beginners half-day pairs pottery / ceramics workshop

"I recieved a half day pottery class for 2 as a gift. Really wasn't sure what to expect as my artistic skills are limited! Louise greeted us with enthusiasm and a hot cup of coffee - after just a few minutes of coaching we were faced with a slab of clay to experiment with. We were like ducks to water... Had a thouroughly enjoyable afternoon, managed to create a pot or two which I am proud to call my own! Looking forward to returning to collect our pieces when they have been through the kiln. Would recommend this as a fabulous way to spend an afternoon - and maybe even start a new hobby! Jayne & Norman"

Fab to see you both let the creativity flow, and you've created some brilliant pieces (not mentioning the dark rabbit scenario Norman ;-)). I'll see you soon when your creations have been fired and glazed. Thanks again for the lovely review :-). "

Isla reviewed: Weaving: the journey begins

"Ashleigh was supportive and patient, providing one to one tuiton on learning to weave. He talked through each skill, providing pattern cards to take away, then allowed time to practice and consolidate skills before moving on to the next part of the course. I came away with a completed sampler, and keen to try out my new skills on my own loom. Everyone at the Nest was friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this course, and will be looking to book into the longer course later in the year. Thank you, Ashleigh!"

Tartan Caledonia responded:

"I look forward to getting you started on your own loom soon."

Lyn reviewed: The First Cut - lino cutting for beginners & rusty printmakers in Derbyshire

"I had a very enjoyable day revisiting lino printing, learning about different types of lino, tools and inks. Liz is an excellent tutor, well organised, knowledgeable and helpful. With course members limited to 3 we had lots of individual attention and we all worked on our own projects once the basics had been covered. I came away with a folder full of prints and the enthusiasm to do more. The Slipper Studio is a great place to work in with excellent facilities and we were well supplied with refreshments throughout the day. This is the second course I have taken with Liz and I will be booking more."

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Lyn, Thanks for letting me know about your day at The Slipper Studio. It was lovely working with you both and great to have you here. You both made good progress and produced some lovely pieces. I feel confident that you’ll be able to continue lino cutting and printing at your own speed, so I look forward to seeing the results in the near future. I’m particularly interested as to how printing will work with your textile pieces. It will be a pleasure to have you here again and hopefully Bert will be a bit braver and more sociable. Best wishes Liz Wellby "

Jo Aherne reviewed: Machine made lined curtains

"I had such an enjoyable and informative day learning how to make machine made curtains with Janet. I was a complete beginner and Janet took the time to explain how to set up the machine and how to sew straight. I was given the opportunity to practise sewing and received lots of great instruction, tips and feed back. After building up my confidence Janet then moved me onto making the curtains. There is a lot to learn and I was given really detailed notes to take away with me that broke everything down into really manageable steps. I was guided through all theses steps and Janet was there to help and guide me throughout. By the end of the session I had managed to make myself a lined curtain! Janet also gave me some very good advice on some curtains that I was planning to make. The lesson was really relaxed and Janet is really good fun and very experienced. I am so glad I did this course on a one to one, as I do not think that could have learned so much in a group lesson. I will definitely be back to do one of her other courses once I have mastered the lined curtains."

"This being my second course with Emily, the day was once again so enjoyable. Emily is patient, encouraging and warmly hospitable. Whilst I struggled at times with the time element to finish my project, Emily kept me going with advice and practical help so I didn't get disheartened. A thoroughly satisfying day and now I look forward to my butterfly brightening up a blank wall. Thank you again Emily."

"What a brilliant time we had! Three complete beginners were welcomed by Sharon and tutored by Hannah.
