About the Course
Join us to learn the basics of wet felting, one of the oldest fibre arts.
In this half day (3 hours) course you will be introduced to the art of wet felting and have the opportunity to create your own wet felt work of art using processed British Shetland wool in a range of colours. You will be guided through the steps, making a small wet felted piece (usually a felted flower). This is followed by time spent making your own design of wet felted picture, either abstract or realistic, using the technique.
Once dried at home the finished wet felted piece can be mounted or framed, further embellishments can be added using needle felting, fabric paint or embroidery.
Courses take place on our beautiful organic farm in our cosy classroom; you may even get to spot a few of the sheep, for the May date we might even have lambs running around in the fields.
Points to note:
Please be aware wool fibres are used during this session, it is not recommended for those with sensitivities to wool. Wet felting can be quite a strenuous activity, lots of friction is needed to hold those fibres together.
Please arrive ten minutes before the start time to allow for sign in and making a cuppa.
A minimum of six attendees are required for the course to run. Courses may be rearranged or cancelled if the minimum numbers are not met, where this is necessary we will give the maximum possible notice and offer a full refund where applicable.
We are making use of the converted buildings on the farm, as a result we don't currently have a disabled accessible toilet, we will be fixing this as soon as possible.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
The course fee includes tuition, materials and refreshments.
This workshop was an absolute joy from start to finish. I had never done wet felting before but had looked into it lots and I loved it, producing a felted flower and picture in the time given, that I was really pleased with.
The setting is totally relaxed with lovely beverages and biscuits on offer.
Fiona was really knowledgeable about the craft and wool generally and was brilliant at tutoring. She is extremely fun, friendly and relational and I wouldn't hesitate to try any of the workshops at the farm. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
