Wax Carving for Jewellers and Designers

Aimed at all abilities this course will give you a solid base of knowledge about working in wax to be able to continue creating designs in wax in your own time. We will cover all you need to get started including wax types, tools, techniques and how to work with a casting house. You will be carving out a wax ring on the day that may be used to cast with if desired. During the course of the day you will learn about different types of wax and considerations for choosing type used, tools needed for manufacture and considerations for design success. We will discuss spruing your own work too. You will carve out a wax ring using wax tools and prepare your wax for being sent out for casting. Casting and casting services are not included in the cost of the course. You will be offered the chance to send it in with others casting or you may choose to do so independently.

Materials and tools are provided on the day. You may choose to purchase a wax kit on the day to use in future. Teas/ Coffees and treats included.

She offers one to one tuition and specialist workshop classes from her purpose built fully equipt studio Rachel Hearne Jewellery School in Lancaster UK. She was lecturer of Jewellery and Silversmithing Nelson and Colne College, Cumbria Adult Learning and Lancashire Adult Learning teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced students for over 14 years giving her experience in teaching all abilites and ages.
