3 x days wet felt making residential retreat course. On this fully guided course you will discover how to make an 'Enchanted Woodland' large felted painting, completed with hand embroidery and needle felted details, flowers, grass, rocks, maybe an animal... Dates: Thursday 7th May, arrival from 1pm - Saturday 9th May early evening. Get ready to unleash your creativity in our 'Enchanted Woodland' Residential Felt making Course - a magical journey into the world of fibres and textures! The course will be held at Bottoms Farm in Walsden near Todmorden in West Yorkshire at a retreat centre with a beautiful studio space. It's for a maximum of seven people. It will be run by highly experienced fibre artist and tutor Josephine Gornall. The price is for the two and a half day course - all tuition, materials and use of equipment. Includes accommodation and most meals - listed below, apart from Friday night when you'll have a choice of local food options. Summary of the course: You will be able to make an 'Enchanted Woodland’ scene, in this fully guided wet felting course ideal for beginners and improvers. We will choose from a large selection of fabulous coloured wools and plant fibres. It will then be wet felted and embellished with needle felting and stitched to make a finished large picture (approx 40x40cm), similar to the ones pictured ready for framing or to hang on the wall. Examples of previous students woodland scenes are shown in the photos. Day One: - Arrival from 1pm for welcome hot drinks, cake and fruit. - Make a small needle felted picture or just enjoy your surroundings. Day Two 10.30 - 5pm: - Full instructions with demonstration and step-by-step guidance. - Laying out the fibres, blending colours and wet felting. Day Three: 10.30 - 4pm: - Embellishment of your dry felted painting using needle felting and hand embroidery to create textures, flowers, wildlife, etc. - Tips for mounting your felted painting ready for framing or display. Please note this is a three day course but only day 1 shows as available in the calendar. Just book a place on this date, and it will include the full course. Accommodation options: - 2 x shared twin rooms (prices per person). - 1 x single room. - 1 x sofa bed room. - 1 x ensuite room. - Option to stay for Saturday night on request. Meals and food: - Welcome tea/coffee, cake & fruit on arrival. - 2 x self serve breakfasts. - 2 x shared lunches. - 1 x meal at the pub next door on the first evening. - Own choice of meal on 2nd evening. - Teas/coffee fruit/biscuits throughout the course. - Free car park at the retreat centre. - Walsden Railway station is 15 minutes walk away. I'm Josephine a fibre and mixed media artist and tutor with over 20 years experience of all aspects of wet and dry (needle) felt-making I have my own studio as part of an artists community in Fletchers Mill, Dean Clough in Halifax, West Yorkshire. I run a wide choice of fun, relaxing felt making and needle felting workshops using a vast colourful selection of materials. I also run the courses at other venues. I can set up bespoke courses for friends and families do get in touch to discuss the options. In the past I have been a designer and lecturer. Several years as a community artist. I have delivered and managed celebratory and public arts projects creating textile wall hangings, costumes, murals, lanterns parades, mosaics within Schools, and the wider community.
