Rag rug weekend in Worcestershire Farmhouse
Description
There will be time to relax and work on a project using one or two traditional rag rug techniques, chat and eat delicious home cooked food. Take a break from the rat race : small group, relaxed company; time to finish a small project if you are so inclined or start one to finish later. Arrive after 5pm on Friday evening: dinner is at 7.30 and you can choose from their selection of local beer, wine or cider. On Saturday we work on our up-cycling projects (hooking and progging) from after breakfast until about 6pm with breaks for a light lunch and refreshments. After dinner people sometimes like to keep working but it's not compulsory! We will continue on Sunday morning until lunch at 13.00 after which the course finishes. Enjoy keeping this vintage craft alive - our grannies recycled their worn clothes to make mats for their cold floors. Sometimes they put rugs on their beds at night.....brrr! Social distancing etc. will be observed. The final decision to go ahead with a course will be made in the week preceding the start date i.e. at the point where it is possible to assess the ongoing situation.

Maker
Jenni has shared traditional rag rug techniques of hooking, progging and plaiting for many years. She believes in re-using, sourcing locally and treading lightly on the planet. Whilst bringing rag rug making into the twenty-first century, Jenni honours the generations of ordinary people who used their cast-off clothing to make warm mats and loves helping people to explore their creativity through such an accessible medium at courses locally and around the country.
