Modern Organic Shapes

Description

Go Organic! Create a small wallhanging (approx 25" x 18") using organic inset shapes. This design will not use appliqué, instead your shapes will be inset into the background fabric. Organic shapes are imperfect, curved, “natural” shapes that we will draw by hand. You will start on a mini quilt and we will include a quick discussion of composition. The amount of work completed during the weekend is dependent on your level of skill and speed of working. But don't worry, you will take home full instructions on how to complete the quilt. This technique can also be used to sew precise curves and circles by machine and we will discuss how to apply it to other types of quilts.

I have been sewing & making patchwork since I was tiny. Have you ever wanted to make a quilt? It looks so easy but do you find yourself thinking “What if I do it wrong?” or "it’s harder than I thought?” These questions are all normal so I put together a variety of programmes that can help. I didn’t start off being a confident seamstress, but I had someone who did not give up on me – and that has influenced me. My passion is in sharing skills. I would love to share that passion with you

"The Textile Textures Playtime course is such fun and very informative! I always look forward to the first of the month when the new material is sent out as I find it a real stimulus to creativity. The written tutorials, photos and videos are very well presented and easy to follow. In addition, the tutor, Sheena is very approachable and always willing to provide help as needed. The private Facebook group is very helpful too and has photos of many inspiring projects created by students. One of the things I like about the tutorials is the different ways in which the techniques taught can be applied – I have found the course to be so useful for giving me ideas for embellishments to add to the upcycled clothing that I create, and I am sure the course would be of benefit to anyone who creates with textiles in any form and did I mention it is FUN?? I highly recommend both this course and the lovely tutor, Sheena who is an excellent teacher."
