Mixed Media Printing: Botanical Books

Mixed Media Printing: Botanical Books
X

Description

A fun day exploring a variety of low-tech printing and transfer methods. After creating a loose background with acrylics in a simple bookform we will build layers using collage and printing to explore the theme of leaves, plants & seedheads. We will be using tape & gel for simple transfers, creating line monoprints, and printing with handmade stamps & found objects to create a lovely little botanical book... a perfect reference piece of techniques or an artists book in its own right.

Lots of demos and individual help – no experience needed.

What to bring:

Drawing pencil

Scissors and/or craft knife

Matt medium (the gel sort) or PVA glue

Acrylic paints & mixing palette (an old plate is fine)

Brushes (whatever you have)

Leaves with well defined shapes / veins (ferns are great)

Reference of seedheads / flowers / plants for inspiration

Paper – lightweight plain paper for printing (the tutor will bring plain white paper and tissue for everyone to use) plus any assorted papers for collage that you might like to use e.g text, patterned paper, tissue paper (you only need small amounts)

Newspaper

Old clothes / apron
