Lucy Churchill's Stone Carving Workshops



3-days of enjoyable & instructive stonecarving tuition tailored to suit beginners, & experienced carvers who wish to refine their skills. Small groups of two or three students allows individual guidance with your own personal projects. I'll show you the steps from masonry to completed artwork, and advise you on how to continue to develop your skills after the course. Topics covered: Tool skills & Carving techniques. Working in 3-dimensions. What tools you'll need, and where to buy them. Chisel sharpening. Where to locate stone. How you can make yourself a work bench. How to continue developing your skills after the workshop. Safety considerations when carving and lifting. I have 25 years professional stone-carving experience and I am a qualified tutor. My 3-day workshops have been running every month for over 15 years - obviously I enjoy them as much as my students do! Re Covid-19 policy: The safety of my students is my upmost priority. What's included in the price?

Each student is given a sizeable block of limestone and use of professional quality tools. Also a useful booklet with advice on carving techniques, stone and tool suppliers etc. Delicious lunches and tasty snacks are provided throughout the course.

I am a sculptor with over 25 years experience of sculpting stone. Nowadays I create unique artworks but my past is rooted in historic reconstruction projects, and creating sculpted memorials. I have held regular stonecarving workshops for 15 years, and am a certified City&Guilds adult educator.
