I am a sculptor with over 30 years experience of sculpting stone.
My current fine-art work is rooted in a career sculpting memorials and working in the historic architectural stonecarving trade.
I have run regular stonecarving workshops for 17 years, and am a certified City&Guilds adult educator.
"Ok do this stone carving course first before any others. I have sampled a few in my vertical journey into Stonecarving and Lucy’s was the best because she does things methodically and professionally. If you just want to play at it then choose a free carving course. This will give you the best grounding. And she’s really nice. "
"It is always a pleasure to do a course with Lucy. I have come back for the third time this summer and am already planning my next sculpture. Lucy also gives you the option of buying your own tools; however I value her comments and try to improve and hence come back for more...."
"I thoroughly enjoyed the stone carving course with Lucy. I’d never done it before but knew it was an itch a had to scratch. A perfect blend of skills, knowledge and approach - and patiently and passionately delivered. I’m now researching tool purchase. Not to be overlooked, three days gaining a bit of insight into the lives of wonderful colleagues (friends) on the course expands the mind too! Altogether a wonderfully grounding and creative retreat! Thanks Lucy, and also to Sam and Nadia. "
"What a wonderful three days. Lucy is a fabulous host, great listener, tutor and source of inspiration. She understood exactly what I wanted to achieve and guided me through every stage. Her methodical approach, instruction and encouragement has given me great confidence. If you are a complete beginner wondering ‘should I… shouldn’t I?’ then you should, you will not be disappointed!
The small group of three really lends itself to learning and provides a great opportunity for conversation and laughter. Hearing the experiences and thoughts of other students was also an important part of the learning experience. Plenty of cakes, biscuits, tea and coffee to keep us going! Thank you Lucy and thanks to the other students.
