I run Landscape painting workshops from my spacious studio in Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey and ‘en plein air’ in Snowdonia. These workshops are open to total beginners and more experienced learners.
The workshops are in watercolour or Gouache and are non-residential. If you require accommodation please contact me and I can help you find somewhere to stay nearby.
The workshops run from Friday through to Sunday evening.
On Friday we gather together in the studio and I go over the weekend and the facilities in the studio and painting techniques that we will use on Saturday morning when we go out painting, (weather permitting.)
On Saturday we go out to draw/take photos from the inspirational landscape surrounding Beaumaris (weather dependent) and further into Snowdonia. Then we paint in the studio. I will demonstrate techniques and work one to one with learners, covering wet in wet brush work, colour mixing and many other ways of using paint.
On Sunday we paint in the studio (unless there is a demand to go out again) and once again I demonstrate techniques and work one to one. I will cover; adding detail into the mix/painting on coloured paper/ texture and more.
The studio is very comfortable and has a log burner as well as full heating.
If there are any dates that you are interested in doing a workshop that are not listed above, you can contact me using the 'Ask a Question' button.
I have taught drawing/painting at many levels from being a University lecturer in Art&Design, and also foundation courses for those who are starting out. Recently I have run local groups in Wales for adults and WEA. I also have experience in working with disabled people and those with special needs. Part of my training has been in Art Therapy.
My workshops are friendly and I endeavour to make each person feel welcome.
I look forward to meeting you and please feel free to contact me should you have any questions. Diolch.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
Included in the cost is full tuition for 2 days and hot drinks cake/biscuits. Soup at lunchtime with tasty bakery-baked bread.
I can recommend accommodation locally.
Workshops are for 4-5 people which enables me to give lots of attention to everyone.
If the weather is good and there is demand there is an option to paint outdoors for longer.
I prefer learners to bring their own paints and paper but I always have spares that can be used at cost price. Please contact me if you have any other questions. Thank you and I look forward to meeting you!

Just returned from a weekend landscape in watercolours course with Georgina. I’m a total beginner but thanks to Georgina’s talent and knowledge, I now have the confidence to put paint to paper and try different colours and techniques that I previously had no clue about. I can’t wait to go on the course again and would recommend the course to anyone whether they are a beginner or an experienced painter wanting to improve.
Response from Georgina Rambton:Thank you for your review Rob. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the weekend and found the content useful, its always great for me to hear that learners feel more confident in their painting as a result. Painting and discovering our creativity is such an amazing gift to discover, it can be our best friend throughout our lives, particularly in times such as these! Thank you and I hope to see you again.
Just returned from 2 wonderful days with Georgina Rambton on her Landscape Watercolour Course. An exceptionally gifted Artist whose approach to painting and teaching was full of energy and as vibrant as her own watercolours depict. She opened up her inspirational studio to myself and three others, sharing techniques and gentle encouragement throughout the weekend. Opportunities to explore the local landscape and see how to interpret what we saw and felt into our paintings. Highly recommended and testimony itself that the three others on the course were all returning after being there last year. It was so good I bought one of Georgina's original paintings too.
This is the second time I've attended one of Georgina Rambton's watercolour courses at her beautiful studio in Beaumaris. On this occasion the focus was on landscapes and the tuition involved both group work and individual progression. I learnt a lot and had a wonderful time. I look forward to joining another one of her courses in the near future.
Georgina's lovely art studio in the centre of beautiful Beaumaris on Anglesey is the perfect setting for a weekend of relaxed expert art tuition. With a small group there was plenty of time for individual guidance and help when needed. Beginners and more experienced artists can all benefit from Georgina's tuition. Her enthusiasm for her subject is evident. I've learned so much from this weekend, in particular - composition - shapes and forms I just love how she encouraged me to see this. Love these courses. Can't wait to join her next Watercolour weekend later this year.
Lovely weekend with Georgina painting the landscape & learning new techniques, taking photographs of interest & applying them to the painting.
Response from Georgina Rambton:Thanks for your review Sue and your contribution to the weekend, it was so great that you came on another weekend workshop and I got a chance to see how your painting had developed. GX
I have just come back from a fantastic weekend on one of Georgina's landscape watercolour courses.
Myself and my Mum learnt so many new skills and Georgina was a fantastic, patient teacher.
The studio was warm and cosy and the trip out to paint the seascape was a highlight. The course really has inspired me to do so much more painting and put the new techniques we learnt into practice.
I would thoroughly recommend.
I have attended a few of Georgina's art courses now and have learnt so much, I was very much an un-confident beginner, and she has really encouraged me to explore and grow as an artist. She has been so generous as a teacher in passing on skills and techniques, and her courses are as fun and enjoyable as they are informative and enlightening. Highly recommended.
Georgina is both an experienced and fun art teacher.
Her recent workshop was an enjoyable and informative experience. She was both encouraging and challenging with innovative ideas, giving advice on practical tips for painting different objects as well as composition and specific effects, such as capturing movement and light and shade.
I learnt a lot and my painting ability has noticeably improved, giving me more confidence to experiment further.
I learnt so much on this course as I was very much a beginner as far as watercolour painting goes. Georgina gave us plenty of watercolour technique instruction but we were also given the invaluable experience of painting outdoors on both days. This gave us the opportunity to practise painting freely, quickly and expressively. The remaining time was spent in the studio finishing our work and working on specific exercises in our sketchbooks. I would highly recommend.
I joined Georgina's class as a beginner a few years ago. She taught me how to paint and at the same time encouraged me to develop my own artistic style.
The sessions are always relaxed usually starting with a short demo on a new technique or an ongoing project .
When working on our own paintings Georgina always has time for everyone to discuss their progress and offers support and guidance .
Since joining Georgina's class I feel I have grown in confidence as a painter and would recommend anyone interested in art to have a go.
I joined Georgina's classes from a recommendation of a friend and I have enjoyed myself immensely. I had very little experience of water colour painting when I began but with Georgina's guidance and encouragement I am able to have a go at anything! She is always able to point out something she likes in the things that I do and will help me on my way when I need it. Now I recommend others to go to Georgina's classes and workshops:-)
Georgina's sessions provide an opportunity to enjoy creative expression, develop skills and explore new techniques in a relaxed, empathetic and supportive environment. Thoroughly recommended.
Georgina's teaching is very helpful both in providing advice on individual paintings and in encouraging us to try different techniques, styles, and media.
A typical session will include short demonstrations or exercises, and we always have time to work on our own paintings.
I value the freedom to work with my own choice of subjects and media. Our mixed-ability group has a wide range of artistic experience and interests, and Georgina tailors her teaching to our individual needs. I started as a beginner about three years ago, and I am confident that my own painting has developed due to her teaching.
