About the Course
This course will introduce you to the skills needed, to take a neglected broad-leaf woodland and transform it into a productive coppice with wildlife benefits. Our tutors will demonstrate how to cut a coppice plot safely using appropriate hand tools. You will also learn to identify different tree species and understand their value. Coppicing is the sustainable way to get our needs from wood so join us and learn how.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All tools and gloves are provided together with a shelter for inclement weather which has tea making facilities and a log burner.
Attended this course in October 2018, run by a super bunch of very knowledgeable and enthusiastic tutors.
Spent a few hours learning the theory and biology of the trees, but mostly worked outside learning to use a range of hand tools ( and learnt how to sharpen them too).
Course has a nice pace to it, not too intense, but covers a lot of ground and the team are always happy to discuss points and expand on ideas.
Recommend this to anyone who wants a few days in the fresh air being mildly active, as well as those like me who have purchased their own wood and want to gain some practical skills.
