Description
This two day Outdoor First Aid course is for anyone working outdoors, especially those using power tools, heavy machinery or sharp tools. This Ofqual regulated, 2 day (16 hour) course will be set outdoors within the 40 acre Nature Reserve at Denmark Farm Conservation Centre and meets all NGB requirements. Over the two days we will look at outdoor injuries through various settings and the appropriate first aid treatment. Day one will mainly consist of theory while day two goes into practical application. This two day (16 hour) course, gives you the knowledge and understanding to be a first aid practitioner in your chosen work-place. Information I cover on this Ofqual/ Qualifications Wales course includes: * Theory and basic aims of first aid * Responsibilities of a first aider * Primary Survey and secondary assessment * The respiratory system, resuscitation and AED * Disorders of respiration and circulation * Wounds and bleeding, eye injuries burns & foreign objects * Seizures * Bites and Stings * Bone, joint, muscle, head, spinal, chest and abdominal injuries * Poisoning, anaphylaxis * Major illnesses * Effects of heat and cold * Electric shock If you require the Emergency First Aid at work (EFAW) certificate, then this can arranged for an additional fee of £20 (in cash to the tutor) for the administration of this certificate. The Outdoor First Aid course covers all the content of the EFAW certificate and more, so it will only be provided if requested in advance.
What's included in the price?
NB. There will be some time covering theory inside the Training Room but the majority of time will be outdoors whatever the weather. Please come prepared with plenty of warm and waterproof clothing. Hot drinks will be available for breaks, and vegetable soup will be provided at lunchtime.

There is parking on site, and the option to walk around the 40 acre nature reserve while you are here.
Yes. We offer a range of accommodation options:
* Ecolodge self-catering apartment - sleeps groups up to 14. Discounts for course participants
* Bunkhouse - dormitory style bedroom, plus access to a shared kitchen/lounge with log burner, TV and kitchen
* Campsite - Open April to September.

Although dogs are very welcome around the nature reserve, we would ask you to leave your dog at home while you are here on a course as we do not allow dogs to stay in cars during workshops, and there isn't enough room to have them in the classroom.
Yes. If the carer is coming to support you on the course, but not participating, then the carer's place is free of charge.
If the carer wishes to take part, then they need to book a place on the course.
