Learn the basics of decorative bookbinding in a fun afternoon at The Smallprint Co!
Join us for a two - three hour workshop in which you will learn the ancient craft of the decorative technique of Japanese stab binding.
In the Japanese Bookbinding Workshop you will experiment with simple binding techniques to create an A5 journal, sketchbook, scrapbook or album.
On the Day Hannah will teach you the basics of a simple bookbinding technique – known as Japanese, Stab or Four Eye Binding – and how to make a hardcover for your project. After choosing a cover paper from our selection of beautiful handmade papers, you will learn how to construct an A5, hard backed book, using the stab binding sewing technique to bind the pages and covers together.
Your decorative book will make the perfect journal or sketchbook, holding treasured photos or written memories. At the end of the session you will be able to take away the skills and book that you have made.
Suitable for children also, 12 years upwards. The session is ideal for anyone looking for a relaxing and crafty afternoon with friends and family.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
