Cabriole chair legs making - day course

X

Description

Learn the carpenters art of chair legs. The cabriole leg is a piece of furniture shaped in two curves—the upper one convex, the lower one concave. On this course we will make the legs by drawing around a pattern, then with the magic of a Compound Cut on the bandsaw we will produce the legs. We will then mark out the mortise holes on 2 faces. After some sanding etc we will then use Danish oil or shellac to finish the legs. You can now take home your work and also the knowledge of the magic bandsaw compound cut which should help you in your furniture making journey. This course is suitable for beginners etc.

Maker

My love of woodcraft was due to a meeting with a guitarist friend who had made an acoustic guitar. We talked about his guitar for many hours and I thought it would be a challenge for me to have a go! Well that was 6 years ago and now in 2023 I am in a small workshop in Stoke where I build various instruments. The Strumstick instrument build is a great way to get to grips with fine woodworking and is an ideal step towards acoustic guitar building. No experience in woodwork is needed.
