Maker's bio

The Urban Crafts Foundation is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company based at Lambourne End Centre for Outdoor Education in Essex. Our fully equipped blacksmiths forge is designed so that we can efficiently teach and carry out commissioned work. We offer classes to members of the public in blacksmithing, coppersmithing and other crafts that we try to keep affordable. These in turn allow us to run subsidised workshops with young people facing challenges that stop them from thriving in mainstream education.

"What an amazing course! Richard and Lizzie really know their stuff and teach in a friendly and helpful way. I made a fire poker today and am very pleased with the results. I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone. "

Deborah Cave reviewed: Introduction to Coppersmithing - make a copper candlestick

"Such a lovely setting for a day of craft with the backdrop of some chatty farm animals. I had a great day with Lizzie learning about all things copper. She had a wealth of knowledge to share and answered every one of my many questions! I'm really pleased with my candle-holder and in particular the range of skills it covered. Highly recommended for anyone interested in metalworking and in particular coppersmithing."
