Hayley & James reviewed: Make a copper bowl

"Lizzie was absolutely fantastic both before and during the course. I had requested whether the 'Make a Copper Bowl' course ever took place on a Saturday instead of a Sunday to work around personal commitments, and she very kindly changed the date of the weekend I had in mind to a Saturday! Shortly before we were due to take the course, James broke his leg and was left unable to weight-bear, and we were concerned about whether this blacksmithing course would be at all possible given his condition, or whether it would be a case of rebooking or possibly even losing the money on the booking, given the short notice. Lizzie couldn't have been kinder, calling me to discuss arrangements for James, offering to either rebook to a later date or put a plan in place for the original date to make things easier for him. We were able to park much closer than normal to the venue, James was sat closest to the entrance/furthest away from the non-mobile blacksmithing tools so that he didn't represent a trip hazard to the other participants, and Lizzie even had some mobile blacksmithing tools so that James could take part fully whilst sitting down instead of having to stand at the different devices. We had a fantastic time, and are so grateful for all Lizzie did! Thank you so much, and we wish you all the best for the future! "

David Owen and Elspeth Owen reviewed: Make a copper bowl

"The course was excellent - the teaching clear and interesting and the practical clearly demonstrated and safely executed. We left with a lovely hammered copper bowl each and enthusiasm to try more copper work. A wonderful way to spend a day in lovely company whilst learning some new crafting skills."

Ella reviewed: Blacksmithing taster session at Urban Crafts Foundation

"A fantastic course which I 100% recommend. Lizzy taught me a range of different techniques and skills needed to make a fire poker. We chatted about differences in coal and gas forges, equipment needed and how to stay safe in the forge. I learnt so much. Thank you again and hope to see you in the future to develop more skills."

Urban Crafts Foundation responded:

"Thanks so much and hope to see you again soon!"

Peter Yearsley reviewed: First steps in blacksmithing - 1 day class

"I had an involving and interesting day with Richard, both relaxing and, at times, hard work. It was fascinating comparing working with the gas forge with the traditional coke forge. I wish I'd done this decades ago, and chosen a different career."

"Such a lovely setting for a day of craft with the backdrop of some chatty farm animals. I had a great day with Lizzie learning about all things copper. She had a wealth of knowledge to share and answered every one of my many questions! I'm really pleased with my candle-holder and in particular the range of skills it covered. Highly recommended for anyone interested in metalworking and in particular coppersmithing."

Jacqui & Mick Taylor reviewed: Make a copper bowl

"My husband and I really enjoyed making our copper bowls under Lizzie's expert guidance. Everyone is talking about these heritage crafts at the moment, in light of the popularity of tv's The Repair Shop and King Charles' support for all the heritage crafts with his apprenticeship schemes. Lizzie too has a real passion for working with copper and shared with us some of the other projects she has worked on. She is a very talented lady and we'd highly recommend this experience"

Urban Crafts Foundation responded:

"Hi Jacqui, Thanks so much for your kind words, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Lizzie"

"I bought a 'make a copper bowl experience', as a present for my daughter and me. I am so pleased I did. Lizzie was an excellent teacher with lots of patience. All the equipment was laid out ready for us. Every step of making the bowl was demonstrated and clear instructions given before we had a go ourselves. Lizzie was always on hand to answer questions or help, but didn’t take over. At the end of an extremely enjoyable morning, we were proud to be taking home two very beautiful, copper bowls!"

Jane reviewed: Make a copper bowl

"We had the best time ever and learnt so much. Lizzie was really patient and i really appreciated that she made sure we did all the work ourselves and it didnt just turn into a demonstration. It was a well paced taster session and I definately want to go back and do one of the longer courses."
