Jenny Cook reviewed: Make your own wedding rings at Brightsmiths Workshops in Rural Suffolk

"I had wanted to learn how to make jewelry for some time, but was unsure of my ability to execute a piece that I would be pleased with. From the outset contacting Rosie she was very patient, listening to my creative ideas and advising sensibly what she thought was achievable as a first project, as well as what was not. Eventually we agreed on me making a Triple Hare brooch/pendant in silver, which i drew out a design for. Rosie's expertise instilled confidence in me to give it a go and i learned several differing techniques in the process, such as sawing, filing, beveling, punching, soldering and polishing. For a first piece, it may have been a little over ambitious, but Rosie was generous with her time and knowledge. I found the whole process fascinating and am delighted with my finished piece, which i will treasure. I hope to do many more days under Rosie's guidance, exploring more creative ideas, techniques and finishes. If you are considering a course with Rosie, I highly recommend her, with friends or alone, there is so much to learn and its always a joy to get your creative flow going with something amazing to take home at the end of it all. The workshop is in a beautiful area of the Suffolk countryside too, lots of ancient trees around it and good energy lines flowing through it. Cannot recommend it all highly enough. Thank you Rosie!"

"Myself and two good friends thoroughly enjoyed our day with Rosie. Rosie's workshop was very well equipped, with a tool for everything and then some. She guided us novices through the creation of our very individual pieces in a calm and supportive way, enabling us to complete our (some might say over ambitious) pieces in the day (be it a slightly longer day than planned). It was great to get a chance to practise some of the processes used in silversmithing, and it's definitely inspired me to look into doing more in the future. I can thoroughly recommend the course to anyone wanting to get a feel for the craft."

The Brightsmiths Workshops responded:

"We had a wonderful day with Rosie at her workshop making some beautiful silver pieces. Rosie was creative, patience, friendly, knowledgable and very encouraging as we were both complete novices. We were delighted with the pieces we made and they will take centre stage on the mantle piece. It was a lovely way to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary !"

Anita Hamilton reviewed: Silversmithing Jewellery one day workshop at Brightsmiths: One to One tuition make a silver ring, pair of earrings or cufflinks etc

"I booked two days with Rosie in March 2019 and it was such an enjoyable experience that I booked another two days in May 2019. Being in Rosemary's workshop is a unique experience to work alongside one of the region's most talented and knowledgeable silversmiths. Over my four days I made two beautiful bowls - one in copper and the other in silver (this one with handles). Rosemary's knowledge about working the "bright metals" is vast and she is very generous in sharing it and her time. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she makes one feel very comfortable in her workshop."

The Brightsmiths Workshops responded:

" Dear Anita Thank you for your kind words, I am still blushing :) It was an honour to teach you Copper and Silver bowl making . You are an excellent student and the beautiful bowls that made are testament to your own tool skills and the work that you put into making them. I am sure they will bring you much pleasure for years to come. Thank you again for Choosing the Brightsmiths Workshops and for permission to put a photo of you at work on my course page. I hope to see you again soon Kind Regards Rosie Price"
