"Sharon Littley is one of those people you meet, who changes your life. It's just like magic, seeing her guide a class of students, (Some of whom have never held a chisel before. ) all creating different carvings under her tutorage, whilst thoroughly enjoying the process and ending the course with their own carved masterpiece."

"Relief carving course at Higham Hall 27-31st November: This was my first carving course with Sharon and it quickly became evident that many others on the course were returners- very reassuring. She quickly put us new comers at our ease and lead an inspiring and supportive class encouraging self direction and individuality but offering generous help and instruction when needed. The opportunity to work 9 to 9:30, with generous breaks for meals and rest when needed, over 4 days was wonderful in the beautiful relaxed setting of the Lake District. I hope to return next year"

"I have just returned from a carving course with Burn Brae Carvers in Cheshire, led by Sharon. What a lady - Such enthusiasm and a natural talent for bringing out the best in each of us. I hadn't used or sharpened chisels before, but after carving my Lovespoon, now feel quietly confident to handle them with the respect they deserve! Thank you Sharon and for the good talks we shared in between the carving!"

"I have just started wood carving classes with Sharon in Port Talbot, having never so much as held a chisel before. From the moment I first contacted her regarding the classes Sharon was extremely helpful, warm and welcoming. The class consists of people with a wide range of carving abilities, most having attended for years which shows how enjoyable the classes are. The work they produce, along with Sharon's own work is very inspiring. Sharon is lovely, very warm and funny and you are welcomed and taken into the group and made to feel very much at home immediately. Everyone has their own individual project/s and progress at their own pace, receiving any help they require which in my case is a lot! I have been taught how to use the tools safely and correctly and am thoroughly enjoying how my first project is coming on. Sharon is very patient and encouraging and has an easy way of teaching, making anything seem possible. I have found a new hobby that I am absolutely loving and look forward to learning so much more from Sharon."

"I went to Higham Hall in the Lakes District on a walking holiday - but, due to a bad back, I couldn't walk. At the same time, Higham Hall was also offering an Art course and a Wood Carving course - I had been looking for a suitable course on the latter for months. I spoke to Sharon and asked if I could come over and look at what was going on. Sharon was most welcoming and agreed happily. The next day she introduced me to everyone, allowed me to wander round looking at their work and then Sharon sat with me and talked about wood carving and the different tools. When she asked me if I would like to do some wood carving I almost fell over with delight! And that's when I became smitten with wood carving. I stayed the day working on my love spoon. I asked Sharon if she would accept me onto the course - she said she would if George , the manager at Higham Hall, would accept the transfer from walking to wood carving - he did. As a tutor, Sharon has a wonderful manner when teaching (I'm a semi-retired teacher so I recognise a good one when I see it). Her warm, Welsh, welcoming nature puts people at their ease and her one-to-one tutoring skill is excellent. Everyone is given individual help regularly throughout the day. I can honestly say that I had the most wondrous time wood carving - so much so, that I have booked on Sharon's course next April 2015 and October 2015. I can only recommend something by my own experience - therefore, I absolutely highly recommend Sharon's wood carving course to you"

"I recently attended a two day course run by Sharon for our local U3A. Sharon is an excellent teacher who makes you feel comfortable whatever your standard and we were shown a wide range of carving techniques using our own tools wherever possible. We were also shown how to sharpen tools - it was worth it for that alone!"

"My 10 year old son and I have just completed a 3 day course and what an amazing time we've had. Neither of us have ever done anything like this before and will definitely be doing it again. From the minute we walked through the door Sharon made us feel so welcome and relaxed, we had lots of one-to-one attention and step-by-step instructions, she was so eager to help, encouraging, complimentary, professional and very funny! In a nut shell we are both hooked on carving and have already booked on Sharon's next course. Thank you sooooooo much."

"First course that I've been on with Sharon, and I certainly was not disappointed. A really great week-end, and I was so-o-o-o glad to have been able to sign on for the third day (bank holiday). Sharon is an excellent teacher, brilliant at getting different techniques across, and explaining different aspects of wood-carving, from sharpening tools, to guidance on tools and equipment, as well as the carving itself. She is not only an exceptional wood-carver herself, but is able to impart that knowledge and make it fun. The time flew by despite many hours in the workshop, but it was all laced with fun, laughter and relaxing conversation with Sharon and with the others on the course. The majority were 'regulars', but v. friendly and welcoming to newcomers like me, making me feel at home right away, and part of the group. Thank you to everyone, but especially Sharon. Lucy"

"As a complete novice to wood carving I wasn't sure what to expect from the week-end course in Sussex with Sharon Littley, but it was an excellent introduction to the art. Sharon is a great tutor; knowledgeable, friendly, full of enthusiasm, and able to get a group to 'bond' instantly despite the great range of experience in the room. She organised everything from ensuring the rooms and meals were perfect to some wonderful stories from her carving experiences over the years. I didn't even need to bring any tools as she has everything to hand. I left the course with a piece of work I never thought I could achieve...and am hooked on wood carving now."

"I have enjoyed wood carving with Sharon for many years And regard her more of a friend than a tutor. Sharon has Patience with everyone, never reprimanding you if your work is not quite right but cleverly adjusting your work so that it looks good. I thoroughly enjoy my lessons as it's my time and look forward to it. Thank You Sharon"

"Tried my hand at wood carving this weekend for the first time. Organised everything last minute, but Sharon was wonderful in helping me join the course and making me feel so welcome and supported. Was a fantastic weekend - amazed that Sharon helped me to do so much in such a short time, but made it also fun and stress-free. Was just the tonic I needed, not to mention coming away with an original Christmas present for the box. Thank you Sharon for your generosity of person and of spirit!"

"I have known Sharon for many years and have witnessed her work with both admiration and great pleasure. She has always had the highest of standards in mind and this, obvious from the carvings produced by her. So much so that I had to join her class some years ago, hoping some of that excellence would rub off on me. (I'm still trying). She has a wonderful way of communicating with her students and only too willing to pass on her knowledge. The commissions she undertakes are of a finished standard unequalled and are shown to us the privileged, not to demean us but encourage us as to what can be achieved. Sharon is without question an excellent tutor and should anyone be looking for a new experience, hobby, etc., they would do well to consider attending one of her classes, weekend courses or demonstrations, they are a perfect joy."

"I have been attending Sharon's courses for 12 years, she is the most professional tutor you could wish for, she has the ability to see the end product of your carving at the earliest stages of that block of timber that you start with, If you want to achieve good quality carvings whilst having a enjoyable relaxing course in a great atmosphere with lovely people attending this is the place to be, Try and see some of her own personal carvings then you realise how immensely talented she is. Many thanks Sha for the happy years that I spent with you trying to rise to your standard."
