"I enjoyed this course, being out in the air, the cameraderie and loved handling the stone. The stone isn't dense, so scultping is relatively easy and there is just enough time to finish a piece. Sebastian is welcoming and guides when you ask, otherwise, you're left to learn as you go - an explorative-type learning that worked for me. I have already recommended Sebastian's course to friends and family and would want to return another time to improve my skill level."

In a lovely setting at the foot of the Cheltenham hills, he perfectly balanced a modicum of instruction, and some guidance to get our creative juices flowing, before letting us loose with tools of some lovely Cotswold limestone. "Excellent two-day stone carving course with Sebastian in a beautiful rural setting. As complete beginners, we were immediately put at ease—he had us carving right from the start! We learned how to choose the right size stone and use the appropriate hand tools to bring our designs to life. He was always nearby to offer clear guidance and encouragement. By the end of the first day, we had roughed out our basic shapes, and on the second day, we refined and finished them with textures. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, with plenty of tea, biscuits, and good company. I’ll definitely be back!"

"A most excellent way to spend a weekend. The rural location is delightful, and Sebastian’s beautiful sculptures are within the grounds for inspiration and admiration. I had a most wonderful time being creative, working on a lovely block of Bath stone. With the encouragement and advice of Sebastian I gained more confidence as the weekend progressed. Naturally stone carving is a messy business, so my best gardening clothes were the order of the day! With regard to thoughts about what shape to try and create, I found it very helpful to make a very rough mock up of the shape in papier mache at home beforehand, as I aimed to create a Three D piece. (While there is the option of making a clay model of your shape on the first day of the course to help when it comes to working on the stone itself, I thought I would gain more time if I arrived with the papier mache alternative at the start) Highly recommended! "

"This was a new experience for us which we thoroughly enjoyed. Sebastian is a knowledgeable and patient teacher. We learnt a great deal. One tip as a complete novice to stone carving - choose a reasonably soft stone to work on, or at least a stone that is similar in consistency to your practice stone. It makes carving a lot easier."

"I booked this course for my 9 year old son who has only tried stone carving once before. He really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it, carving 3 relief sculptures, using a range of tools. Sebastian was a great teacher - relaxed but encouraging and with some gentle suggestions. He also provided delicious brownies! The countryside setting was beautiful and we had a great weekend. "
