"Attended Ria’s introduction to screen printing course, just before the virus hit big style. She gave us ideas as to how to plan your design beforehand. Most of us printed on cushion covers or loose fabric to make wall hangings etc. We traced the design onto card to make a stencil and after lunch started printing and mixing colours. Lots of inspiration from village life and nature. Wishing you all the best Ria for your future projects and when we can return!!!"

"I had an amazing day with Ria. Her studio is beautiful, spacious, well lit and filled with inspiring work. The location, right beside the canal is idyllic, it was like arriving in another world. Ria was really welcoming and shared her knowledge with kindness and patience and an obvious passion for her work. She broke the process down into easy steps and was sensitive to how much or how little help and encouragement I needed throughout the day. There was a steady flow of coffee, tea and gentle encouragement. I will definitely be returning."

"A super day with Ria, who is friendly, patient and knowledgeable . Only 6 class members who were all very supportive. Lovely location. We all came home with a completed project which is great, rather than have a number of 'practice pieces' which just get stuffed in a drawer. The only thing I would advise future course members is 'wrap up warm' . Ria had heaters going and the sun shone but it is an old building so difficult to heat."

"My sister and I spent a wonderful day at Ria's new studio adjacent to the canal. Lovely studio with so much space. We were kept topped up with tea and coffees and Ria's relaxed and friendly coaching helped us both design and make our lampshades. We were both very pleased with what we achieved and this was our second visit. No doubt we will be back to make something else. We highly recommend her workshops"

"My sister and I took my mum to Ria's lampshade making course recently for her 60th birthday. What can I say, we had the loveliest day end to end and that was entirely down to the enthusiasm, loveliness and talent of Ria. She was so patient and really got our creative juices flowing, supporting our crazy ideas and providing lots of inspiration. The setting of Ria's studio really adds to the experience, a beautiful building alongside the canal in rural Northamptonshire. Definitely go down the canal to have lunch in the canal boat! I would definitely recommend Ria's lampshade making course, a really fun and interesting day with a lovely lampshade to take away at the end."

"All I can say is, if you have never, ever done screen printing before in your life and you really want to do it but you lack self-confidence - then this is course is for you. Ria is absolutely fantastic, very knowledgeable and easy-going. We did have a bit of banter and it was great fun which made the course even more enjoyable and I did meet some really lovely people. The course itself was easy, very detailed and covered inexpensive ways of making a print you could do at home. The materials are free - you can choose from tote bags, tea towels, cushion covers etc. You literally just draw your design, cut a stencil, choose your colours, screen print then stand back and admire your own work! Don’t worry, you’re not left on your own, Ria is with you all the way. I had problems with the squeegee thingy to start with. You’re supposed to make one or two smooth movements down the screen to push the paint through. I just couldn’t get it right but with Ria’s help and me doing a few practice runs I soon got the knack of it. At the end of the day, I had learned something new – a new skill that I didn’t have a few hours before and I was able to take my handiwork home with me. I’m so glad I went on this course. Thanks for a fantastic day Ria and I do hope to see you soon!"

"I enjoyed a really good day with Ria. A real bonus having limited numbers on the course. I'd never attempted screen printing and did have difficulty pushing my fine art to one side to enjoy the freedom of printing. Ria is very friendly and a good tutor, it was a day of friendly chat and banter."

She guided our designs so that we could take home a finished piece that we were proud of. Her knowledge of what works and how to get to where we wanted our work to be was ace! "My daughter and I spent a lovely day enjoying learning to screen print with Ria. Ria is a lovely lady, keen to share her knowledge and ideas and very generous with her time and supplies. Her teaching approach is open and relaxed and no matter what your skill level, you will not only have a lovely day if you attend this course, but will definitely go home with an accomplished piece of work, which you can choose to complete on the day or finish off at home. The location is good for parking and lunch in the café can be recommended too. I would recommended this course and if like myself you have never done screen printing before and are unsure at to whether to go or not.......... just go............what have you got to lose??? Keep your mind open and enjoy your day !!"

We both had an idea of what design we wanted to print onto a cushion cover and with Ria's relaxed, comprehensive and informative instructions, we also managed to print some additional tote bags.
