Hayley reviewed: Introduction to Lino Printing in Cambridgeshire

"I bought this as a gift for my mum and neither of us had done lino printing before. Judith was very welcoming and the workshop was nice and relaxed. We had plenty of space and attention, with just the right level of input, technical and creative. We came away with piles of prints which we were both really pleased with and I have already purchased my own tools following Judith's recommendations."

print paper stitch experiences responded:

"Many thanks for your review Hayley, it's very much appreciated. It was a pleasure to meet and work with you and your mum. We were lucky to fit the workshop in before everything shutdown again! I'm really pleased to hear that you've got some equipment now and would love to see pics of your future prints. All the best for a happy and healthy 2021 Judith"

"My wife and I spent a week day with Judith in early October, and the fact that there were just the three of us worked really well in terms of social distancing and the like. We really enjoyed the day and were very pleased with the results, the best of which will shortly be going up on our walls! Copious quantities of Earl Grey tea and biscuits also went down very well!"

"I have never tried screen printing before and found this course ideal. It was lead in a welcoming, encouraging and patient way. It was great fun too and with such a small group, was relaxing and rewarding. I printed on both paper and fabric and was so inspired to see work that had been created by previous classes and by Judith too. Would really recommend ?"

"I highly recommend Judith's screen printing course. We learnt how to print onto paper and fabric, tried several different techniques and finally produced a piece of artwork to take home. The class is small so you can have plenty of one-on-one time and Judith is very patient answering endless questions and explaining options for how you might want to do your masterpiece. This was an excellent and fun day."

"My friend and I had an amazing day on Judith's Introduction to Linocut Printing course as a birthday present to each other. We were welcomed into Judith's beautiful home and given tea, biscuits, cake and careful instruction on how to bring our ideas to life. Judith has loads of equipment and reference books and a wonderful, light space to work in. Most of all she's a kind and patient teacher and shared her time among the group well. The point at which you lift the paper to reveal your first print is like magic - we were all super pleased with our work. It was easy to book and the instructions for joining the course were clear. Judith even advised us on good places to walk and eat in Ely to complete our exciting day!! I travelled from Kent to join the course and would happily do so again."

From the moment we arrived we felt at home, with the added bonus of lots of coffee and cake! Judith put us at ease straight away and we were down to business in no time. We all managed to create some great lino prints with the help of Judith, and the relaxed atmosphere made it such an enjoyable day. We would all highly recommend."

"This was my first try at screen printing and it did not disappoint. We gained an appreciation of the technical skill required for particular results but were still able to produce pieces that we were proud of and could use to create further prints. Judith's studio is an inspiration, full of light, and to spend the day with fellow printers in such a creative space was a treat in itself. Many thanks, Judith, for an enjoyable day."

"I had a really wonderful day and Judith was an excellent tutor, who is clearly very talented. I was thrilled with the images I produced and subsequently did some online purchasing to practise this at home. I would definitely attend a follow-on course to learn more complex techniques in the new year."

Teresa Trangmar reviewed: Lino Printing for Christmas in Cambridgeshire

"Fantastic day yesterday at Judiths home studio surrounded by her creative ideas and lovely garden! I was delighted to create a linocut in the morning and then print a range of different colours and effects ready to make a Christmas frieze when the ink drys. There was also time to experiment with printing using different materials and inks and colour. Judith is such a good guide and teacher and makes suggestions that enhance your work and yet still retaining your own ideas and individuality. I came away feeling I had really created work that I was proud of and happy to share with others! This was my second course with Judith and I thoroughly recommend her courses"

"What a lovely day learning lino printing! As a complete beginner I couldn't recommend this course, or Judith, more highly. The atmosphere is relaxed and encouraging, and although everyone on the course chose very different subject matter, we all ended the day with a collection of amazing and individual prints. I would do it again tomorrow."

"I really enjoyed this workshop and also found it very helpful. I had done some lino printing at home and Judith showed me how to go on the next stage, adding layers of colour to my prints. A friendly and relaxed atmosphere, even though we were all concentrating very hard! A lovely setting too. Highly recommended."

"The whole day was fantastic. The workshop is airy, light and in a beautiful setting. Jude was brilliant - patient, calm and gave excellent demos so that we were clear on the process. She helped me achieve my somewhat ambitious tessellated design and I loved my results. The yummy cake, coffees and teas helped lubricate the process. If you are looking for a great day course I would highly recommend this one. It would also be great fun with a group of friends."

"Wow, what a fabulous day. Hard work, busy and intensive, but so worth it. Judith is a great teacher, a perfect balance of teaching techniques and practical activity. Judith is really supportive and encouraging, she is extremely approachable and friendly. The six hours went so quickly and I came away with thirteen A4 prints of my original lino cut in different colours and on different backgrounds. The workshop location was easy to find, minutes off the A1 and in a beautifully converted building with easy parking. Real coffee, tea, yummy biscuits and cake too. Highly recommended."
