Adam reviewed: Making Wooden Joints

"Really enjoyed myself and feel I learned a great deal. Highly recommended for both the novice or those wishing to progress. "

Kate Stott reviewed: Sharpening woodworking tools

"Philip is a knowledgeable and supportive teacher, I came away from these two days confident about how to sharpen a wide selection of cutting tools. During the course we had enough time to tune and sharpen one or two chisels, a bench plane and a couple of cabinet scrapers. The workshop is spacious with plenty of room for students and tools and we had access to a number of grinding machines - really helpful in making my own mind up about my next kit purchase. Be prepared to get stuck in; this is not show-and-tell it's definitely hands-on and, depending on how out of shape your tools are, a good upper body workout. I certainly appreciated the ready supply of cups of tea - a chance to relax and get to know my fellow students and Philip a bit better. Highly recommended."

Jill reviewed: Introduction to woodworking

"Really enjoyed the day despite my complete lack of skills. Philip is knowledgeable and enthusiastic and very encouraging. It was a good introduction to the tools and equipment required, though some of the power tools were way beyond what the hobbyist could wish for. The practical session was well structured but I felt I would have got further if I had learnt some basic hand tool techniques before I went. Being able to try out using a lathe was just brilliant! Thank you for a really good day, Philip"

Jeremy reviewed: Introduction to woodworking

"A well structured course which was well attended. Philip spent a good amount of time explaining the minimum amount of tools we could reasonably have to begin working with wood and demonstrating how to use the powered tools in the workshop. In the afternoon we got our hands on the tools, squaring off a piece of wood and making up a mortise and tenon joint. We also got to try out the powered tools. An excellent introduction from a knowledgeable and enthusiastic tutor! Thankyou Philip"

Philip Hodge responded:

"Hi Jeremy Thank you for your review which is much appreciated. Philip"
