"Had a fantastic day with Connor, he couldn't have been more helpful. I'm over the moon with both the day and the knife I took home. This is a fantastic experience for anyone who is interested in the craft or enjoys Forged in Fire or Alec Steele!"

"Excellent day, Connor was patient and full of information on techniques both modern and historical. Great day had by both my brother in law and myself, plus we both made knives which are functional and unique."

"After watching Forged in Fire far too many times I was compelled to give birth to my own knife... Connor was an excellent knife midwife ? It was hands on from the start and we both got stuck in to creating my new favourite tool. Connor is a a genuine forgey/metal guy, he’s learnt it from the ground up and he will gladly share his years of experience with you. Had an ace day (that went like a shot) and came home a very happy chap with a very usable, and in my eyes wonderful and practical creation that will last for years & years. Very happy with the day, Connor was great and I’m in love with my knife. Would do again tomorrow!"

"Had a great day in the forge with Connor, I went in not knowing what to expect and to learn as much as I could and it didn't disappoint! I came home with a brilliant knife and a new found love of the process, Connor is a great teacher and is very knowledgeable about everything and make you feel at ease soon as you arrive! Would definitely recommend this course."

"Got this for my boyfriend for his birthday and he could not be happier with the experience. Connor was super friendly and skilled and let me sit in and watch even though I wasn't partaking in the course. What we thought was excellent about this course is how "hands on" it is. Unlike a similar experience at a different forge some friends of ours went on where the instructor did most of the work (for safety reasons). Connor was very keen to just let my partner crack on and do the hard work on it, only stepping in to make sure nothing went wrong. There were different wood and handle options and a cute little design process at the beginning to get a fully custom knife. By the end of it my partner had a fully functional sharp knife that he now uses in every possible situation at home (even opening letters and cutting price tags off new clothes like a lunatic). Thank you very much to Connor!"

"My partner had a cracking day forging his own knife. The blade turned out amazing and Connor was very knowledgeable and patient. I would definitely recommend his classes for people in the future."

"What a fantastic experience, I couldn’t think of a better way to bond with my two boys! Playing with fire and making a knife (safely ?) Connor was a great, great teacher, a testament to his fantastic ability. What a fabulous memory day made with my children, and they now have something that they can show their children to say, “Look what I made with my Dad” Will definitely be returning when my youngest one is of the right age. 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Day"

Louis reviewed: Forge your own knife at Padgett Ironworks Blacksmiths

"The course was a fascinating hands-on insight into using a coal-fire forge, drawing out the shape and then putting on a handle and grinding the edge. It is a working forge, with all the tools you would require. Only a few minutes from the Elsecar heritage centre. It's a long day, expect to be busy throughout, but the experience was excellent. I would highly recommend it."
