Maker's bio

Cathy has a love of sharing her interest in willow weaving with others. She enjoys exploring the use of a wide range of natural materials to create decorative and functional items for the home and garden. Workshop sizes are small so that people get individual attention and have the satisfaction of being creative with natural materials, Cathy encourages people to go home and experiment with prunings from garden shrubs and creepers - things which may previously have been put on the compost heap!

B Elliman reviewed: Willow weaving for home and garden

"An excellent course hosted by Cathy, who is very knowledgeable and guided us quickly into making a Catalan tension tray. Cathy's enthusiasm is catching and I can't wait to attend some further courses to learn some of the other willow weaving techniques for producing garden furniture and other ornaments. Ten out of ten."

Joy Osborne reviewed: Willow weaving for home and garden

"Cathy is an excellent tutor and gave really good direction for each step of our willow weaving project for the morning. The day started off well with a lovely warm welcome and this made us feel so very much at home. Not only did we get to choose what we'd like to make, there were many opportunities to customise our offerings. I made a fish on a rod and my partner made a Catalan tension platter. Cathy was on hand at each stage of our work ready to demonstrate and advise, with just the right balance of help and autonomy. Her knowledge of willow and skill of her craft were very much apparent and she is a very agreeable and interesting host. We were also treated to a range of hot and cold beverages and delicious homemade cake. I'd highly recommend booking on one of these workshops. Due to Covid there were numerous date changes, but all the admin for this was dealt with most efficiently and I was kept well informed."

Jane Newell reviewed: Willow weaving for home and garden

"A very informative and relaxing way to spend a Saturday morning. My initial nerves of trying something new soon diminished, with the gentle instruction and guidance from Cathy. Before long our small group was happily weaving away, stopping only for delicious home-made cakes and biscuits. It was lovely to meet new people and learn new skills. I left with a substantial willow tree-skirt that was greatly admired over the Christmas period. Looking forward to signing up for another course in Spring."

Jackie Thomas reviewed: Willow weaving for home and garden

"I really enjoyed the course. I liked being in a small group as this meant that there was plenty of help available when needed. There were plenty of materials to choose from and it was good that all equipment was provided. The project was easily achievable in the time available and it was very satisfying to return home with a beautiful item. The refreshments were also excellent."

More than Willow responded:

"Thank you Jackie it was a real pleasure to work with you and I am so pleased you enjoyed it too! Hope to see you again in 2019."
