Maker's bio

I study landscapes, weather and seasonal change with a strong emphasis on colour. Currently I am painting with oils, but I regularly produce work with oil pastels, acrylics and inks. My love of the landscape and the ever changing weather conditions are my starting point, developing my work through sketches that explore composition and colour. From here, I work to create vivid and stimulating final pieces.

"Laura’s Abstract Acrylics one day course was fabulous! I had already enjoyed her Colour Loves Colour day, and was excited to try to develop some abstract techniques. Laura is a font of knowledge and is very generous with sharing her skills around what works successfully to make an abstract design. She has a relaxed and engaging personality and teaching technique, and encourages even the most unconfident student to produce work that has positive aspects to it. All materials are provided. Thank you Laura, you are a superstar! "

Julia reviewed: Colour loves colour. Acrylic painting.

"A very enjoyable day with Laura, mixing, playing with colour and putting our new knowledge into practical use. I particularly liked the bias towards abstraction, and although I didn’t manage to develop this aspect as far as I’d like to during the class, Laura gave us lots of tips and information which I’ll be working on when painting at home. "

"Enjoyed my two day oil paint course with Laura at the lovely Ferrers Art Centre. Laura gives a brief overview then allows students to delve into the work themselves. All materials are provided and I thought the course price very reasonable. Lovely cafe and deli on site so a very pleasant experience and place to paint."
