Vibrant Light – A Van Gogh Inspired Oil Painting Experience.

X

Description

Over the course of 2 days, we will take an in depth look at the use and impact of colour. Day 1 will see us mixing and experimenting with colour to create deep, rich combinations. These lessons will enhance future paintings. Understanding how colour combinations can alter the impact of a piece, is pivotal to directing the outcome of your work. We will study value and design with colour at the centre of our practice. Day 2 is an opportunity to use these skills in our work. Using the findings of the previous day, you can expect to create 2-3 studies in acrylic paint. Though the workshop will look at abstraction, feel free to do something more realistic if you would prefer.

Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. You are welcome to bring lunch to the studio, or grab a bite from the excellent deli or tea rooms in the courtyard. All materials and tools for the day of painting are provided.

I study landscapes, weather and seasonal change with a strong emphasis on colour. Currently I am painting with oils, but I regularly produce work with oil pastels, acrylics and inks. My love of the landscape and the ever changing weather conditions are my starting point, developing my work through sketches that explore composition and colour. From here, I work to create vivid and stimulating final pieces.
