Mrs J reviewed: Fused glass introduction 1/2 day at Kingcot, Worcestershire

"Thoroughly enjoyed our glass fusing morning with Vicky. She was very kind and patient with us two novices and nothing was too much trouble for her. The whole morning was relaxed and great fun and Vicky's obvious love and enjoyment of glass was infectious. She is a great teacher, not lecturing or boring, and we learnt loads about glass and glass fusing. We would highly recommend her workshops and we look forward to the next one :)"

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Thank you for your lovely words, it is appreciated. It was a great morning and thank you for sharing your birthday with me!"

"This is a much more fun workshop than I thought! First of all, Vicky has been so flexible with the date so that I actually enjoyed a whole course for just myself. Secondly, the course was very informative and interesting. Vicky demonstrated the skills perfectly and allowed a lot of my own creative ideas. She helped a lot to make my ideas come true via this amazing handcraft skill. Lastly, Vicky was super nice to even wait for me at the entrance in case I drove past (which I did). I enjoyed her chat and company. I actually found all sorts of people are trying this and it can be a real fun thing to do with friends and family! Definitely recommended!"

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Thank you so much, I always say every day is a school day and I learnt some amazing guinea pig facts from you which I shall be sharing with my friend!"

Highly recommend! Thank you Vicky."

"Vicky provides a great mix of knowledge and information, hands-on practice, guidance and a free rein to develop your own creativity. She is really generous with her materials- we made two pieces each which I can’t wait to see! We will definitely go again but next time, I will spend a bit of time looking at fused glass creations online so I go with an idea of what I’d like to create. It really helped to have ‘ready-made’ pieces to look at the finished colours and effects, and to get the creative juices flowing. Thanks Vicky for such a lovely morning!"

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Always a pleasure to pass information on, in fact I guess it's probably too much sometimes....! It'll be good to see you again. All the best Vicky"

"A fabulous morning spent creating our masterpieces under Vicky's attentive tuition. She helped and advised but allowed us free reign with designs and materials. It was great to be inspired by all the small pieces she has in the workshop. We'll definitely be back for more Vicky!"

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"And it'll be good to see you back! So pleased you enjoyed the morning. All the best Vicky"

"We attended Vicky’s course as a three generation activity for my daughters 13th birthday. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed the day. As well as great supervision and encouragement, we had a lovely lunch and we’re plied with teas and coffees. There were lots of laughs and chatter and we all came away with a piece or two of copper foiled glass work to be very proud of. Vicky and Vic are brilliant hosts and teachers. Many thanks"

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Hi Vicky, it was a real pleasure having your family here, probably more so for Vic who now knows how his knees work.........! Good luck with your future glass adventures."

"From the greeting in the Car Park in the rain through to when I left Vicky looked after me all day. I made a stunning panel and had time to add a small copper foil piece. The lunch was superb, with excellent company. Everything was explained and demonstrated, and I was advised how to improve on areas that were less than perfect. Really enjoyed the whole day!!!"

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Hi Phil, thank you for your review, really appreciate it. Maybe a train panel next time........!"

"I took hubby to a glass fusion craft afternoon with Vicky to celebrate his 60th birthday and he loved it. He wished we’d booked a day instead of half. Vicky is so knowledgeable and informative and we learnt loads of new techniques even though hubby knows how to craft with glass and I’d done another glass fusion class. We had such a great time, and looking forward to our creations coming out of the kiln gif us to collect. Thanks so much Vicky. We would definitely recommend and we will be booking to do the stained glass course soon ?"

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Thank you so much for your kind words - always good to hear! Glad hubby enjoyed the day - and he definitely isn't 'cack-handed'!"

"Having had no previous experience, I brought home a beautiful stained glass plaque. Throughout the well-defined process Vicky offered guidance and advice without ever being intrusive. She consistently encouraged creative experimentation and was always able to answer technical queries. Her confidence with the medium was very reassuring and made the whole experience stress free and enjoyable. Don’t have a big breakfast because lunch is tremendous! Thanks Vicky."

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Thank you for your glowing report, I love it when an artist from another medium appears, to simplify one of your pictures to make the panel was genius - every day is a school day!"

Julia Forte reviewed: Stained glass taster day in Worcestershire

"We had an absolutely fabulous day with Vicky and Vic! I bought the day as a present for my mums birthday, and my dad came along too. All three of us really enjoyed it. Mum made a beautiful fusion glass dish, I made a humming bird with copper foil and soldering and my dad made a stained glass boat panel with leading. It was so interesting to learn about all 3 techniques and a huge insight into what goes into making stained glass pieces. Vicky and Vic are so enjoyable to be around and really made the whole experience a real joy and nothing was too much effort. The lunch spread was really tasty too! A fantastic day out and I would recommend to anyone! Thank you so much."

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Hi Julia Thank you for the review, it was an absolute hoot having all three of you in the workshop! Here's to free spirits and naughty corners!"

Mel Sims reviewed: Stained glass taster day in Worcestershire

"Did a day’s course in stained glass and I loved it, even got to go home with an impressive panel to show the family. Vicky and Vic are great teachers, explaining all the theory to a complete novice in a non patronising way and making the whole day great fun. In the morning we chose a pattern and then selected glass from a massive choice, learnt how to cut the glass and then I was away cutting the shapes I needed. A lovely lunch was provided in Vicky’s fascinating garden and after it was time to lead and solder the pieces of glass together. Vic is an expert at stained glass and was full of help, advice and encouragement. It was a really lovely day which I will repeat again. Thank you guys!"

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Hi Mel Aww shucks, I'm blushing! Thank you for this and glad you enjoyed the day. As I said at the time we nearly always learn from the students as well, in your case it got us thinking of using clear glass a bit more - certainly for borders."

Leona reviewed: Stained glass taster day in Worcestershire

"I did the copper foiling course led by Vicky and Vic. I had a fabulous day, making a feather and a heart to hang in the garden ( yes they are garden proof!). I learnt loads, met friends old and new, and had so many laughs. Vicky and Vic were sooooo helpful at showing us what to do, but importantly doing most of it ourselves. We were offered endless drinks and a delicious hot and cold lunch in the Orangery, where we chatted and it was really sociable. There was a generous amount of glass to choose from some were beautifully iridescent. I would wholeheartedly recommend this course to people who are used to working with glass or beginners... there is so much help on hand. I’m looking forward to doing more copper foiling work. Thank you to both Vicky and Vic"

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Hi Leona, thank you for this and good to hear that you enjoyed the day. The feather will certainly look lovely in your garden and hopefully we'll see you again so you can do a companion piece. Thanks Vicky"

Henrietta Brooks reviewed: Stained glass taster day in Worcestershire

"I have just got back home from an absolutely amazing day with Vicky and Vic who taught us how to make beautiful stained glass hanging pieces using lead from start to finish. The tuition was excellent, clear and concise, packed with really good health and safety tips presented in a totally non patronising way. The course was fun and totally stress free which in turn allowed us to cut the glass confidently and build the frame without feeling too fraught! We broke off for an amazing lunch in Vicky's beautiful home which was a work of a work of art in itself. I would have been happy with a sandwich and a cuppa but instead we were provided with the most amazing and delicious spread of lovely food plus gorgeous chocolate cake. The afternoon was packed with incredible tuition and we were carefully guided how to build up our design and meticulously taught how to solder (which I was dreading!). Vic kindly fitted some hanging rings on for us so we could take our creations home and display them. I will be buzzing for ages after this wonderful course and I can't wait to visit Vicky's beautiful studio and also return for the glass fusing and copper foiling courses. Thank you so much for a most enjoyable and memorable day and for giving me the confidence to have a go at this most beautiful of skills. Highly recommended and I will be telling all my friends. Can't wait for the next one. A very, very happy customer indeed."

Kingcot Gallery responded:

"Henri - ah shucks, you're making me blush! Glad you enjoyed the day, I'm never sure who enjoys it more - the students or us! As and when you are ready we'll be here. Thanks Vicky"
