Maker's bio

Jill originally trained in Fine Art and then did a degree in design, after which she spent 30 years in commercial design. Returning to painting in the last seven years, Jill supplies originals in acrylics or oils to various galleries and also via her own studio, West Coast Studio. Jill's courses are 2 hours or full day (5 hours with lunch) and all materials are provided.

"Thank you Jill for an extremely enjoyable morning! My sister Chris, who has been painting for many years now, really enjoyed trying out the oils and is now very keen to use them again. I had not used acrylics before and will definitely give them another go. Your knowledge and experience, not to mention patience, was very evident and we feel that we gained a lot from the course. By the way, the soup was delicious!"

"Fantastic day thank you Jill. As you know I am very new to painting and I am so pleased I started with acrylics - I just wish I had found my love sooner. It was lovely to work with a variety of colours and to be shown techniques with the variety of brushes that you have. Very informative and great tips. I would love to come again and learn more from you. Thank your husband for growing those lovely courgettes, very tasty lunch. I had a very relaxing and enjoyable day. "

"I got this full day experience for myself and my partner, as a surprise Birthday present. Jill was so friendly and helpful and put me at ease when booking. The day itself was amazing and we both enjoyed ourselves so much. We both came away with completed acrylic pictures, that we can't wait to put up in our home. Jill was so patient, friendly and knowledgeable, she gave us the confidence to be able to paint and have fun. Lunch was beautiful and Jill catered to us being vegetarian, with a lovely salad and spinach bites. I would highly recommend this course and we would love to come back again in the future. "
