"This was a thoroughly enjoyable course. We got started at the lathe quickly and learned new techniques progressively. Greg was clear in explaining what we needed to do and why we were doing it, such as how it affected the wood and why the order was important. He was patient and also let us learn from our own mistakes, but stepping in where needed. We also ended up with some pieces of work to be proud of at the end! Meanwhile, Greg kept the mood light and the coffee and soup were good too. I have been on quite a few short practical courses and this was one of the best all round! I would highly recommend him."

"As a result of Covid-19, the course schedule was modified to 3 days @ 4 hrs per day. Gregory had set up a hand sanitiser station and provided a face mask and face shield. He made efforts to maintain suitable distance and tried not to touch any item that I would subsequently hold. There are no toilet facilities available during these unusual times but there is a public toilet a short walk away. I took the beginner's introductory course and felt that it was pitched just right for me. I learnt a variety of turning techniques using a number of turning chisels and spent some time on wood finishing using wax and oil. I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who wants to understand the basics of wood turning to see if they want to take it further. Gregory is very experienced and explains techniques in a very clear and calm way."

"This was actually the second course I've done with Greg and it was just as good as the first time! An artist and expert turner who's friendly, relaxed and very thorough and an attentive teaching style makes for a thoroughly enjoyable time in his very well equipped workshop. I took some of my own new chisels etc along and he showed me the correct way to use and resharpen them. His wealth of knowledge and experience allows him to be flexible and so you will learn everything you need to -plus if you have a particular question or desire to gain extra practice in a particular skill, he can focus according to your needs. I wouldn't consider going to any other tutor now. Thanks again Greg! Liz"

A very practical course where we were on the lathe most of the time and Gregory assumed no prior knowledge which was good as I even needed to be taught how to use some basic tools like sanders! "I was given the 2 day woodturning course as a Christmas present and having just finished it I still can't believe how much I achieved as a complete novice and right out of my comfort zone. Greg is a patient and engaging teacher who guides you through all the basic woodturning techniques in a friendly, relaxed manner and encourages you to give it all a go even if you are a bit hesitant as I was.
