"I cannot say enough how much we loved this. I bought this as a surprise 50th birthday gift for my partner - it was the 2 day sword making course. Neither of us have an any experience at all but with Richard guiding the way, we literally made a sword. Ourselves. A sword. Like Conan the Barbarian. Richard was a wonderful teacher - nothing was awkward, or scary and it really was a lovely thing to do as a couple. We will most likely book something else to do in the future because it was worth every single penny and we loved Richard. All our friends were asking for info so if our friends aren't keeping him busy, please make sure you book!! Thank you so much xx"

"My wife booked me on a Damascus Knife making course with Richard as a birthday present. I knew little to nothing about making a knife or blacksmithing so was a complete novice. Richard has an excellent approach to mentoring, he gives clear instructions and lets you do the work without jumping in, however If I needed help he was straight over and gave great advice drawing from what is obviously a wealth of experience. The facilities are great and has everything you would need to produce whatever you can dream of. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and can’t stop talking about it. I absolutely recommend taking a class with Richard. Thanks Richard"

"What an amazing experience! Bought as a birthday gift and it was so much more than we could have hoped for. Richard is so knowledgeable and great company (makes a lovely brew too)!! "I managed to get a place on Richards course at the last minute and I am so pleased that I did. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and I can’t remember a time when a day has passed so quickly. The tuition was spot on just the right amount of guidance, advice, and a little help when needed but it left you feeling that you were absolutely the one that has made the knife from start to finish. If you have always wanted to give blade smithing a go then I can’t recommend this enough, but be warned you do leave with the feeling that you want to do more."

"You've read the other reviews right? If you have then you already know Richard is courteous, knowledgeable, friendly, funny, interesting, and dedicated to his craft. As a teacher he has the perfect balance of when when to step in to provide the benefit of his experience and skill and also when not to step in and let folks bash away, make mistakes and the correct themselves. Unmissable for all the "forged in fire" junkies out there. The hours in the forge will give you an exquisite taster for the real experience within a working forge keeping the craft and traditions of the past alive for this and future generations. Very much looking forward to the next session - What a phenomenal day!"
