Two days learning how to do glass painting. Natalie is a very calm and patient teacher and has an excellent way of teaching without putting any pressure on you . A very good course packed full of information and some very pleasing results. You don’t have to be an expert to get some lovely results. Give it a go.
Really enjoyed our time at the workshop. Learned a lot and took home a few works of art
An excellent workshop to explore the basics of painting on stained glass and take it further if you have had some experience. Nathalie was very knowledgeable and informative about the craft, giving demonstrations on how to prepare the paint, precautions to be taken and allowing everyone to participate in the various stages. The small group working environment ensured everyone was able to get the aid they needed and could progress at their own pace without fear of being left behind! A couple of pieces were fired from the first days work and a further two from day two - I look forward to picking up my final pieces of work!!
An excellent introduction to painting on stained glass. Thoroughly enjoyed the two days,, and it has inspired me to want to do more.
As a complete novice, I found the workshop was a great introduction to this craft delivered by a very patient, knowledgeable and talented tutor who was happy to share her experience from paint preparation and design to final firing of our work. The small number in the group meant that we each received the help we needed in a relaxed atmosphere. Nathalie is very innovative in how she uses recycled items to aid her work and careful about the disposal of waste to reduce environmental impact. Her workshop is within walking distance of the railway and bus stations making it easy to access on public transport and also means that if you wish to stay in central Shrewsbury overnight you can take advantage of the shops and theatre of this vibrant town centre, making the whole experience a real treat. Many thanks Nathalie.
I spent a very enjoyable and relaxing two days being immersed in the craft of stained glass painting. Our small group had many opportunities to use the paint preparation and application practices and produce some small glass panels to take away wit us . I greatly appreciated Natalie's patience and encouragement and her approach to conserving our environment.
Travelling to Shrewsbury by train from Birmingham was very straightforward while Natalie's studio was located a short walk from the station and the reasonably priced hotel I stayed at.
Thank you for two very good and informative days where I learnt the basics of glass painting in a friendly atmosphere.
I had a great time on Nathalie's course and produced some images I was really happy with by the end of the second day. Nathalie is very knowledgeable and I felt I was learning all the time through watching, conversation and practicing different skills. There was a good atmosphere in the studio and there were lots of laughs. It was nice that Nathalie allowed us to see her studio where she works giving the experience a more authentic feel.
Response from Couleurlive:Dear Rosie, Thank you very much for your precise and kind review. I am delighted you kept good memories of those two days.
A lovely calm relaxing and enjoyable way to spend 2 days learning on how to paint on glass. A course suitable for all skill levels.
I enjoyed learning about the processes involved in preparing and painting glass. I found it all very interesting the way that the glass paintings can appear so different in changing lights.
This was an amazing way to spend 2 days in January. I was humbled by the skills involved in stained glass painting. I am really looking forward to seeing my two glasses when they are fired.
I bought my mother this class as a present and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. we learnt so much over the two days, with such expertise, Natalie is so approachable, with such interesting skills we could really see how much we had learnt even over the two days.
We cant wait to place our glass pieces in our houses as a constant memory of the course.
Definitely worth a try!! I had no experience so you dont need to know anything before just come and have a go
On arrival I was nervous as although I had done some glass painting before, my skills were very basic and inexpert. Nathalie provides excellent guidance and support, so that I was able to test myself and try new challenges. Her encouraging style of teaching and openness to experimentation rather than necessarily having to adhere to a strict syllabus was very beneficial and much appreciated.
Although a two day workshop for beginners and I had not done any glass painting before , at the end of the workshop I felt confident enough to paint on glass in the traditional manner. Nathalie is a brilliant teacher and so knowledgeable about traditional methods I immediately felt comfortable in the studio.
I would recommend this workshop to anyone who wants 2 days of getting away from it all to learn a skill which has been practised for hundreds of years. You will not be an expert but an inspired learner!
I enjoyed the two day course with Nathalie. It wasn't quite what I was thought it was.I thought it was working with different coloured glass, and lead work. However I did learn alot, and worked with a lovely small group of people.Nathalie was helpful,l friendly, and very knowledgable in her subject.i would recommend this course
Thank you Nathalie for a really interesting and informative couple of days. This was something that i had'nt done before so it was all new too me. I hope to continue to work with glass and the variety of mediums that compliment. A great course. Thanks again`
I thought I was going to learn about stained glass and lead work as a friend thought that is what the course was. It came as a great surprise to learn that we would be doing a workshop on glass painting. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a great deal about a subject I had no prior knowledge of. Nathalie was very patient with a complete novice and the atmosphere was lovely and our group gelled really well too. I would definitely recommend this course.
had a wonderful time in the workshop.
I asked so many questions and nathalie was so patient.
After travelling from Canada to complete the course, i would recommend it to anyone starting as a beginner and i will hopefully be able to make the trip back for an advanced course.
thank you nathalie
Nathalie had prepared her teaching sessions well with photographs she had taken especially for us to work from during the first day and materials set out ready for us on our tables. She took care to explain the processes thoroughly and then helped us to put into practice what we had learned, tactfully suggesting ways we could enhance our work as we went.
Nathalie was friendly and welcoming and took trouble to ensure that we enjoyed the course. An excellent two days!
Nathalie has a lovely teaching manner, she is passionate and patient and obviously an extremely talented artist. It was really interesting to learn the different techniques for applying the paint to the glass and how to create different effects. I was just sad when it ended! A great 2 day course!
