"I attended Rob's workshop this morning. I received a friendly welcome and then instruction on the principles of pyrography, how it works, the types of wood that can be used and those that should be avoided and the types of burning tools available and their use. After instructions on using the burner and some practice I set to and completed my project. This was my first time trying pyrography and I was very pleased with whole experience, friendly relaxed chat while working, interest in what I was doing and encouragement and advise. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole morning."

"I only booked up this workshop yesterday and attended today. Quite a drive for me but well worth every minute. As I had recently purchased a pyrography kit I wanted to gain a better understanding of this craft and this 3 hour workshop did just that. I didn't actually complete either of my 2 projects but only because they both needed different lessons and Rob provided these through demonstrations and on-going support. "I had very mixed feelings about going on a pyrography course: much as I love learning new skills I had very low expectations of the possible outcome and did not anticipate being able to produce anything that I would dare to show to anyone else. Together with a friend I went to Rob’s Collaborators’ Cabin one Saturday morning and any feelings of trepidation were definitely misplaced. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Rob gave a short demonstration with very clear explanations and then gave us time to try out the skills he had shown us on scrap wood. Once we had mastered the basics he showed us how to transfer our proposed designs onto wood, and during the morning our ‘masterpieces’ evolved. The results were surprisingly pleasing and we went home with pieces to be proud of. By the end of the session, fuelled by a good supply of tea, we found that we both felt very relaxed and were amazed at what we had produced in the time. Rob is an excellent, enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher, encouraging us at all times and giving us confidence in our own abilities. My grandson loves his Gruffalo , and I have already booked a further course."

"This was a great course to attend. There was a very relaxed atmosphere and Rob was very supportive and encouraging. As a result I picked up the technique very quickly and produced work that I had no idea I would have been capable of at the start of the session. Working in Rob's cabin, drinking tea and quality music in the background all led to a really calm time. I loved being able to adapt my picture as I wanted and felt brave enough to add my own ideas to my design - that's a lot coming from someone who would say they are not artistic. Hope to go back again."
