I attended the one day course with no previous experience and had an amazing day. Claire was friendly and supportive and it was a very relaxing environment to be in. There was a wide range of colours to use and everyone's mosaics were beautiful and unique. It was lovely to take home a finished piece at the end of the day and I'm very happy with what I made and keen to do more. Our course was in the beautiful setting of the Martinau gardens and Claire provided a delicious lunch for us to share together. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in trying mosaics and I now feel confident to have a go on my own at home with the skills that I learnt. Thank you Claire for a wonderful day.

I received a voucher for the 1 day course for Christmas and was fortunate to spend the day with Claire and others on 22 June. I had some basic mosaic skills beforehand but attendees don't need them to be able to get a lot out of the course. A wide range of materials were available along with design resources to help you create your image. I set myself an ambitious target but was still able to complete in the given time. I now have a lovely piece that I have backed with felt and am using on my dining room table as a decorative plate. The day was made better yet by the location, which was Martineau Gardens in Edgbaston. The weather was glorious and we were able to sit outside in the sun to work and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch made by Claire. All in all this was a really enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone wanting to try their hand at mosaicing.

I had a lovely day with Claire and my daughter on the 1-day mosaic course. There was plenty of help on-hand to support with creating the perfect design. I have a touch of arthritis and Claire was helpful in breaking tiles for me as my hands got tired later in the day. It's amazing how quickly it's possible to produce something beautiful, grouted and ready to take away! A great day.

On my many trips to Scotland I visited many interesting sites displaying mosaic art work and decided I would like to have a go and booked on a course with Claire Cotterill. As a beginner the two day course was a superb introduction to mosaic making and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The course was run in a relaxed manner by Claire who is a very talented artist/teacher and I highly recommend this course.
Thank you Claire and for the excellent food.

It was a lovely couple of days, made better by the beautiful surroundings and Claire, who is a fabulous tutor who soon put the group at ease. I really enjoyed it and would love to do a further class and would encourage anyone to give it a go.

I really enjoyed this two-day course with Claire. The days were well organised, informative and productive, as well as relaxing. Claire generously shared her expertise with the group, and I am happy with the mosaic I produced. The indirect method is quite hard, detailed work but also very rewarding. And the lunches were lovely

I really enjoyed the course. I had been thinking about learning how to mosaic for quite a long time but had not found a suitable course near enough and though I had assembled equipment did not really know how to go about starting a project. Claire made this process really easy, had eveything we needed and her own mosaics were such a beautiful example and inspiration that it was a really enjoyable weekend. I would thoroughly recommend her as a teacher.

Had a fab time on Claire's 2 day course. She is a consummate professional, so creative and made it a really enjoyable experience. She was supportive and friendly throughout, helping out when you needed it and made positive suggestions on design etc. I really enjoyed the learning experience as she is an excellent teacher and I thought the course feels were really good value for money. She also made everyone feel really welcome and I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable things I have done in a long time. And I have a fab mosaic for my new kitchen! Thank you Claire x

I attended this course recently. It was the first time Claire had run the course from her home due to having to find alternative studio space. She was an excellent hostess and facilitator. I really enjoyed the course. It was well paced and informative. I surprised myself with my first mosaic wall hanging which turned out really well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course and would like to attend further courses run by Claire. I'm hoping to pursue making mosaics as a hobby inspired by Claire.

Had two wonderful, creative days making mosaics with Claire Cotterill at her studio in The Custard Factory . I’ve always wanted to learn how to make mosaics. Claire was very welcoming and the rest of the group were lovely. There were only five others , so plenty of personal attention. Lots of lovely materials to work with, and clear, patient instruction - I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved in such a short time, I made a portrait of my dog and it turned out far better than I expected ! Others made flowers, trees, house numbers – It was great to see the range and different styles of the mosaics we made. Can’t recommend enough, a really creative treat and bit of me time in my busy schedule – Thanks Claire, I’ll definitely come again !

Claire was very good at explaining and helping throughout the day.
I chose a simple design which i love and Im so pleased with, especially my first time handling mosaics.
Everything was included boards, glue and as many mosaic tiles as you could can dream off.
I really enjoyed it and will do the 2 day course as i know more whats involved.

just spent a FABULOUS day making a mosaic tile with 3 friends - under Claire's kind and skilful guidance.
she is a brilliant artist of course, but somehow gave us beginners the confidence and guidance needed to design, cut tiles, stick them down and end up with something highly memorable and not that bad looking. I was delighted to find there was more arty flexibility to this craft than i expected...and the glittering colourway potential is intoxicating!
the custard Factory itself is worth the entrance money. DO IT!

Tea, biscuits and great company - the perfect weekend made even better by throwing in some mosaic and tile cutting. This course has shown me how hands on mosaic making really is. I never thought I would ever need to know how to make now apply cement, or even cut tiles, the course provider showed me clearly how to do what I needed to do to make the piece I wanted to make. I am 100% satisfied and happy with the course, and I really would love to come again if there is sufficient availability. Thank you Claire and hopefully see you soon.

Hi, I just wanted to take the time to say how much fun I had whilst making my mosaic piece. I was (am?) A complete beginner rand Claire made sure I knew exactly what to do and when, she even helped me to cut some pieces to the correct shape. Time for me to save up to come to the course again :)

The course was great and so were the group of people who attended it! The studio is bright, with beautiful natural light, and the choice of tesserae is amazing. Claire (the tutor) is lovely and I really enjoyed learning about how to use the indirect method.

Thank you Claire for a brilliant two days in your lovely bright/sunny workshop at the groovy Custard Factory. I was drawn to you through your stunning mosaics. Especially the chickens which are my favourites. I was delighted to try the indirect method even though it was very scary at first. I loved the atmosphere you created with your calm, friendly and very knowledgeable instruction. Nothing was too much for you. You let us be creative and individual yet solved every issue or question we asked. We had a lovely group of ladies and were allowed to plough on through lunch which I really appreciated. I will definitely come again.

I really enjoyed this weekend learnt some fantastic new skills with a lovely group of women. Claire created a wonderful environment in her studio at the custard factory which was very inspiring. Claire is clearly a gifted mosaic artist and got the balance right letting us get on with our ideas showing us new skills helping with thoughts and allowing us to go at our own pace etc wether we had no, a little or lots of experience with mosaics. She is very down to earth, friendly, keen to share her knowledge and skills and patient in answering all those questions! I am planning now to return could not give any higher recommendation. Thank you Claire from Karen

Living close to the area, I was intrigued by the course so decided to give it a go. The course organiser is so friendly and accommodating, I really felt well looked after! I now have a beautiful mosaic tiger hanging above my stairs. Definitely would book again.
