"I spent an interesting day and learned a lot from Stephen who is clearly a master of his craft, as evinced by the wonderful examples of his work; not just highly professional, but also very creative. I made notes when I could, but it tended to interrupt the flow and a handout or two would have been helpful to make sure I took home the key points. We also had fun discussing many varied topics during the day, but we then ran late in order to complete the book I'd brought and it felt a bit rushed. That resulted in the text being inserted into the cover upside-down which was a shame as we'd worked hard on it all day. However, all-in-all I now feel confident enough to embark on my own book repairs thanks to what I've learnt. Thank you, Stephen."

"A fantastic day spent on book repairs. Stephen is clearly very skilled and it was fascinating to work with someone who is so knowledgeable about their work. We covered a wide range of techniques, discussed projects and practised aspects of work on the books that I had brought, plus some other examples that Stephen provided. I gained a lot of valuable insights into how repairs are done in practice and lots of ideas from the books and projects that line the workshop - a great day, I'm looking forward to visiting again to develop my skills!"

"Excellent experience. We planned out a series of topics to cover a week ahead. Stephen prepared material and examples so we could cover those topics with hands on practice. We addressed difficult to remove spine leather, reusing leather from older books and alternative technique for label making. We also have time to review a number of other subjects such a leather types and structure, disinfecting moldy books, and washing and sizing paper. It was a really productive and enjoyable day."
